The BattleMech sends out a burst of supersonic sound called a ping. This high-pitch sound can be heard by all players in the surrounding area. The HUD will then display the speed and range of all enemy BattleMechs in the area. This information decays over time. Enemy BattleMechs hidden behind terrain or structures are effectively hidden and undetectable.

Thoughts?

Interesting. It's basicly, Sonar. But, it does not do much more then what the current sencors already do. Although, this would be able to detect ECM units. Being able to see speeds is an interesting plus.

I think Seismic sencors would be more usefull. It also exists in the TT game. Detects vibrations in the ground. The faster they are moving and heavyer they are. They easyer they are to track. This is also, not effected by ECM.

Absolutely a great idea. A seismic sensor can show an approximate position of the vibration source on the radar as a big transparent blob.

As far as the sonar idea goes, read up about how radars work.
