I sincerely hope collisions come back. As a Jenner pilot through most of beta, it was a hilariously easy to abuse mechanic to give my teammates easy alphas on disabled mechs.
That is exactly what I hope will never return. Whilst I am sure that you had lots of fun, stuff like
this simply is not enjoyable for the opposing team. I don't know about all the other pilots, but I am here to shoot mechas, not play a silly game of football where I am supposed to assume that any and all enemies will try to tackle me even before they think of using their weapons.
My last two experiences in this regard shortly before collisions were removed were:
a ) dedicated teams of Lights where one would tackle the opponent, so the other could easily kill them
b ) speed-tweaked Lights ramming into opponents who were already busy with another enemy, coming in from an angle from which they could not even be spotted
I hope you can at least imagine how frustrating it is to be catapulted out of an engaging chase right into inactivity, where you can do nothing but lean back whilst buffed LRMs come flying in to shred your immobile paper armor. Being tackled was a death sentence, and it was
way too easy to do, which prompted it to be used with an ever-increasing popularity as a standard tactic. I was glad it was removed back then, even though I still kind of miss its general principle due to my love for a degree of realism.
If tackling gets reintroduced (which I hope it will), it should only be possible to do so with heavier 'Mechs, whereas machines of equal or lighter weight merely result in a temporary loss of steering control (the BattleMech basically tumbling a few dozen meters before the pilot is able to steady it). It would be nice if the duration of knockdown and control loss could also be affected by Pilot Skills, but I fear the move away from actual
pilot skills towards tech modules means this will not be an option, unless something like an "Improved Gyro" is introduced.

When they do put collision back in I hope they do a bit of adjustment to it were mechs only get knocked down by mechs of the same weight class or greater. This way "Jenner tackling" as it was called is no longer a problem. For those who were not around when knockdown was in, Jenner Tackling was when you could take a light mech, mostly a Jenner at that time, and use it to ram and knockdown mediums and some times heavies.
In other words "tackling is cool, as long as it's not possible to tackle me"?
