Hi, not sure if this is the right forum but for the last 2-3 hours I've been experiencing really bad lagspikes - 1500ms or more. It makes the game nigh-unplayable when it happens - it is not constant though, generally I have the typical 150-250ms for us european players.

Just wondering since this only started today in force. There's been the occasional lagspike now and then before, but now it's more than a few times just about every match. Guess I'll call my ISP if nobody else is having the same problem...

Edit:

Ran a traceroute to mwomercs.com and there are a few hops with latency nearly 4000ms... And I'm guessing mwomercs.com server is denying ping requests as all the rest are blank and standard ping request returned 100% packet loss.

Edit2:

Seems like the problem is, for a change, in the overseas connection, as I have 50ms ping to any domestic servers, but would like to have someone else from EU / Australia / Asia to confirm or deny they have similar problems.

We're not seeing anything unusual server side, you won't be able to ping the data center as you noted (blocks ICMP) you can try a ping test to a nearby server (Toronto area) to confirm your getting expected latency.

Playing from SEA, no noticeable latency spikes recently. However, a number of European as well as NA players have been facing issues. I understand it has something to do with one of the servers in the route to MWO servers.

Thank you for looking into the matter on your end, Matthew, much appreciated - exemplary customer service!

Yes, it seems some server (or actually, a few, according to the tracert) along the route is clogged up pretty bad. Oh well, guess I should call it a day and try again tomorrow.

I had a problem with one match yesterday. For 20-30 seconds my FPS dropped from ~40 down to ~10. The previous 10 or so matches were just fine. My system crashed a match or two later and I wound up quitting for the night. I had the same problem in several matches 10 days ago. At that time, none of the usual fixes (restart client, delete shaders cache, etc.) had any effect.

S!

Have also had these "spikes", game runs smooth but you get delay on everything. Duration can be anything from a spike to several seconds. So might be there is a bit of a "traffic jam" along the way to the MWO servers from here :D

I'm from Germany and I have a higher ping of 160-180 the last two days. Normally it's 140

I've experienced something similar - when torso twisting, sometimes my crosshairs will jump back a bit when I'm lining up a shot. Moderately annoying, didn't happen pre patch.

Aside from that, the netcode seems much better now.

This is still happening to me at least, altough not as severe (just "mere" 500-700ms ping). Ias I now pinged Google's canadian server, the last two routes are showing elevated ping and this got me wondering... Ready your tinfoil hats....

I remember reading some time ago that Canada's internet traffic to the rest of the world is pretty much regulated by a single company and the reason I heard about this in the first place is that they have from time to time throttled the connection, essentially slowing down internet connections for everyone connecting to and from Canada? So - I was just wondering - if MWO's beta servers are in Canada (i'm not sure where they are), if this might be the reason? Then again I guess a lot more people should be complaining about worse ping and latency spikes if that was the case.

It is just terribly frustrating to have this happen, for example during an intense duel, but guess I'll just have to bear with it until it magicaly fixes itself or when we get more servers around the world.

Noticed my ping jumping +130 higher than my normal 270ms from Australia. Fluctuating quite a bit a times. Consistent ping, regardless of how high is what is needed to anticipate shot...erratic makes things very tough.

Getting spikes of about 25 to 30 ms occasionally (Puts me above 300)

Most of it is traceable to start of business and end of business though.

I think Quality Service traffic shaping may be hitting some people as some routers put IPTV packets above gaming.

Yep, i'm noticing lag with my own movement for the first time; normally it's rubberbanding with other mechs.

I've been paying attention to it, and it's most noticeable when i'm turning and twisting my torso, especially if i'm decelerating. It happens most just before my torso comes to a stop when it catches up with my crosshairs, and will stutter or rubberband a bit, so i'll all of a sudden be aiming in a slightly different place. Horrifyingly annoying when i'm trying to aim with lasers or line up an SRM burst.

If there's lots of mechs in a tight space, it tends to be a lot worse.

Also, it doesn't always happen. Some matches are smooth as butter.

Some days I've had some really odd ping jumps

Normally I'm about 100 (UK based in London). However about 4 times over the last 6weeks I have had sessions where my ping jump to 450+ and all things go haywire. I press fire and nothing happens 5seconds later the weapon goes off. Weapons wont recharge for 20seconds, cant select targets.

Every time I can remember its on frost city and Always starts near the bottom of the drop ship/gap in the ridge

It feels like massive packet loss but if I run a test and the connection shows fine.
