Whenever a player suffer a component destruction, they will have to replace equipment or weapon lost in that component, either from their existing stock or buy a new one in mechbay.
Reasoning
- Introduce extra layer of Risk vs. Reward element into the game.
- Function as money sink in the game.
- Monetization; allow player to spend MC to recover broken equipment or weapons.
- This also allow developer control over the distribution/wide spread of a particular piece of equipment or weapon in the game, to enforce item Rarity. (especially with the introduction of Epic items)
- Player will only have to spend Cbill to replace broken equipment and weapons but not mech chasis, armour points or ammunition(*). Think of it as "soft" RnR.
- When Clan weapon are introduce to the game, this will allow developer to maintain the Rarity of these weaponry. Eg: If a player lost their CERPPC to component destruction, they lost it permanently.
- Developer can manipulate price of equipment and weaponry in mechbay later to simulate market shortage or surplus.
- If point 3 is implemented, it might encourage player to spend Cbill to stockpile equipment and weaponry, possibly even for player economy in the form of buying low and selling high at time of shortage.
- Possible Monetization; allow player to spend MC/Cbill to instantly recover a broken equipment or weapon after a match. Especially enticing if player is about to lost their favorite Clan tech.
- Possible Monetization; allow room to introduce MC counterpart of CBill equipment and weapons for player who want to bypass Cbill grind.
Consideration
- Will require development of itemized list of equipment and weapon destruction after a match or in mechbay. Similar to the previous Repair & Refit list.
- Implementation of equipment and weapon database to keep track of item creation(purchase from mechbay or loot) and destruction(destroy or sell back to mechbay).
- Implementation of Unique ID for each piece of equipment and weapon to help counter item duplication via illegal tool or exploit.
- Player on losing streak with little Cbill balance might become "stuck" and unable to upkeep their mechs, and have to rely on Trial mechs or spend MC to recover.
