What Does Beagle Active Probe Do!

Hello Guys I am Torn with What my Beagle active Probe actually does,,,,,,

It seams that the ECM disrupts (what ECM should do) but it also does what you would think BAP Should do and that is cut through ECM (Counter)

Does BAP do anything in MWO or is it just a waste of space on my Mech?

Target a shutdown mech from 120m.

+25% faster loadout determination (i.e. figuring out what your target is carrying)

+25% range to target mechs (does not affect ECM).

I believe it also decreases your lock on time.

The Beagle Active Probe, or BAP, is a sensor suite that enhances the units onboard detection systems. Essentially it boosts radar coverage, locking and scan strength.

the short answer is that it is a waste of space on your mech LOL.
you could use the 25% range boost, but there's a module that does that and doesn't take up slots for ammo/weapons in your mech, nor does it increase weight

in the code you quoted it says (last line):
rangeboost: 0.25, gaintime boost: 0.25, mechdetectionrange: 120.0

don't forget that BAP will stack with sensor(advanced) range.. so you can get 150% range increase if you have both (assuming advanced).

this is of course assuming they aren't under ECM cover /shrug. I like to run it in my mechs when i have the tonage for it. Especially scouts and LRM boats.

But BAP and the module stack which can make a big difference.

True, but the module boost way takes longer, uses GXP and coin to purchase to incorporate into the system, and it would take away an all important module boost later in the game. Remember, they will be adding in MORE modules into the game and you might need to get a BAP which would be cheaper.

Personally, I would like for them to rename the Target Information Module and call it the Targeting Computer Module. Or add a bit of TT Canon lore depth and call it the Sloan 220 Lockover Targeting Computer Module. If anyone remembered the DataLog Magazine, it had an Battletech article recapping LOStech and how the Sloan 220 in a complete working form was used to help identify targets faster, help provide targeting lock faster, gain a targeting boost, and increase zoom to from 1000 meters to 1500 meters, IICR correctly from the article.

Also it can boil an egg from 30 paces. whether you want it to or not actually; I have learned to stay away from hens. Its really quite nasty when they blow up.

It's a 1.5 ton 2 crit 400K CB placeholder for a 1.5K GXP 2M CB sensor range module that takes up no weight or space.

All of the advanced rules for Beagle (360 degree targeting, advanced sensors, ect ect) have been introduced as modules instead of included with Beagle. Beagle does, however, function as it is suppose to by the base rule set.

The problem is ECM functions as it is suppose to with the base rule set, yet has all of the functions plus more from advanced rule sets. If we're going to cleave the usefulness from Beagle and force people to purchase modules to get its utility back, why not do the same for ECM?
