Alpine Peaks

Players will be able to employ a variety of new strategies due to the large scale. Scouts and fast mechs will have an advantage, being able to cross terrain quickly. Long range builds will also enjoy the ability to hang back and launch barrages from a safe distance. Teamwork will take on a new meaning, with balanced lances dominating the field of battle. This massive map will take advantage of the upcoming 12 v 12 player support, expected to arrive sometime in April.

SPLOOSH!

hell's ya!

only sadness is that I am out tonight and can't spend a ton of time in game.

Love the camo changes and glad they are unlockable items and no longer consumables.

Tactical discussion? How big is big? what do people think this map will introduce (better tactics or more base cap rushing?)

Looking forward to having some space to play in, been dying to see what a large map would be like (and find out what LARGE means to PGI)

PUGS + larger map = more fodder for pre-mades.

I admit, I am excited for this one. I'll actually re-equip JJs on my Spider!

Can't wait. Been waiting for a good reason to take my spiders out for a stroll again. This sounds like it will be fun.

I heard that it took a slow moving Atlas (40kph) the entire length of a match just to get where the fighting was

Meaning: do not over-commit your assaults on this map.
With this map and the subsequent 12v12 I expect much rage from the anti-premade groups...seeing as the 8v8 required group option will be pointless in 12v12 matches.

Over 2x the entire map size of caustic I'd wager. Let's just say A1's have a pretty rough first drop

Am I the only one that wonders how well the game will play with bigger open spaces?

Don't get me wrong, I love sniping myself...my problem is that enemy mechs aren't even animated on my screen when they're on the opposite side of the current maps... I can tell they're there if I have a teammate close enough to highlight them, but I just have to blindly shoot at the red box when I try to snipe them.

It could be an ER PPC and LRM playground, but I suspect the size combined with ECM will result in the combat devolving into the same close-range brawlfest we see on other maps right now, just with a longer "wander around" period before the blobs find one another.

But a bigger map means more opportunities to outmanuver the blob and go for the cap, I guess.

Was this a slip? Does this mean that there will be 2nd, 3rd, and 4th drops within a match? Is the multiple mech mode coming soon?

That close range brawling blob will be obliterated by a good and fast long range team with scouts.

But how will you use your gauss/PPC/ERLAS against those ECM-hugging blob types?!??!?!

/sarcasm
