The current Match score seems heavily reliant on damage, with a few minor frills thrown in. This unfairly favors high damage builds and heavier mechs. There is way more to pilot skill then raw damage. The rank should be how good of a pilot you are more then anything else. Accuracy, situational awareness, checking friendly fire, ability to use cover are all signs of a good pilot and should be taken into account.
Proposed components
Shots fired vs. shots landed %
You need to be accurate in your shots. Each tick of DoT weapon (lasers) is a shot, pellet of lbx, missile, etc.
Damage dealt vs. damage received %
Are you good at evading? Tank that dishes out as good as he gets? Makes up for the automatic accuracy penalty for dedicated LRM mechs.
10% Distance traveled vs. damage received
Favors those that know how to use terrain/cover to avoid damage.
Spot/Tag = 10 per
Some credit for the tonnage spent.
NARC = 50 per hit
Some credit for the tonnage spent and limited time of bonus.
Time on cap = 1 per second
Eliminates the all or nothing nature of cap sitting
Component destroyed = 10 points per
Kill = 5 points per enemy
Kill Assist = % of damage done per enemy mech armor points
Favors the person that solos a mech, but also gives a token amount to someone who just scraped a med laser across.
Friendly fire damage = increasing negative % of total points for FF damage vs. damage done in the match. Some FF is expected, but the more you do hurts your team and should have consequences for putting your team on worse footing.
Win conditions are not part, since a good pilot with a bad team should be rewarded more then a bad pilot on a good team.
How this would look:
100 shots () vs. 67 hits = 67% = 67 points
350 damage vs 200 damage received = 175% = 175 points
2340m traveled vs 200 damage received = 117% = 117 points
2 spots = 20 points
3 tags = 30 points
0 NARC = 0 points
15 seconds on cap = 15 points
3 components = 30 points
1 kill = 5 points
Kill assist ( 2 mechs, 350 points damage, 1100 enemy armor points) = 32 points
491 total points before penalties
34 points of FF = -10% of total
Final Rating = 442 points
Obviously these numbers could be tweaked to suit, and are completely made up. Suggestions/additions/criticisms are appreciated!
