Why are people so stupid?

Does no one understand any more that Nationality is NOT equal to Race?

If I, as an American, were to say "I hate Brazilians", I'm a racist.
Why? I don't know.

If I, as an American, were to say "I hate the English", I'm a knob-end. Race excluded.
Why? Some one has a brain to know better? I think so.

It's doubtful a lot of reports for "racism" ever result in action by 'the powers that be', however it's pretty annoying to hear nearly every day from every person that you're a racist when you express opinion.

People are weak minded any more.
Because I'm a white man, I'm either a racist, or a sexist; and at best, ignored.

Its set up like that so you cant have level headed discussions about it. The very definition of these words have been messed up in peoples heads by the media.

Or, you know, hating people because they fall into a generalized category through no decision of their own is about as intelligent as trying to make love to an electrical socket.

Lol, talking about [redacted] who think anything you say is racist is not the same thing as being racist.

I want to know what other people think about the fools they encounter who think ANY opinion you express is either racist, sexist, or anti-religious.

Saying you don't like pokemon is not the same thing as saying you don't like the Japanese.

Saying something isn't the same thing as doing something.
By your logic: "I hate water"; results in <fornicates with electrical outlet>.

If you're upset with people not thinking you're cool for spouting your inflammatory "opinions", maybe share it with the only people who actually want to hear your opinion? (Hint: that would be just you).

You have every right to express yourself but you can't be surprised if people think you're a sh*thead.

Technically that would be xenophobic more than racist.

Neither "Brazlilian" nor "English" is a race.

Quote

Xenophobia is a dislike or fear of people from other countries or of that which is perceived to be foreign or strange. Some definitions suggest xenophobia as arising from irrationality or unreason. It comes from the Greek words ξένος (xenos), meaning "stranger," "foreigner," and φόβος (phobos), meaning "fear."

Nah it's not racist for hating a different country.

It's Xenophobic if you have an irrational fear of foreigners

Or Ethnocentric if you think the U.S is better than other countries.

Or you're just trolling people to get a reaction.

Either way there's no need for it. Why not just play Mechwarrior.

Are you seriously trying to start a discussion about wether stupid things you are saying are racist or not?

Saying "I hate Brazilians" without any further clarification might not be racist. It's stupid nonetheless for being a generalization based on prejudices, because you hardly know EVERY Brazilian and thus hardly have any base to hate them all. Not a valid one that is.

Hating water is hating a relatively universal inanimate object with very little variance aside from some basic mineral content.

Hating an entire country, culture, or peoples is hating a massive, varied group of individuals who share very few universal characteristics aside from being born in a particular place, or with some particular genes.

Sure, not racist, but you're still a jerk. Abusive behavior is something that shouldn't be tolerated regardless of your feelings about the pedantics of what you call said abusive behavior.

Calimaw, probably best not to discuss details of what you're referring to here.

But a short answer: saying you dislike people because of their race is, by definition, racism.

Also, I started a thread about hate speech in game a while back. Not much reason to rehash it all:

Presumably we are allowed to RP racism (or as close as you can get when the game is set on planets which have been constantly taken over by different factions again and again)?

The books are no stranger to racism between planetary populations, etc. We are factions at war for many. many years. Etc.
