They are not made anymore. You can eBay them, but they are expensive (over $100). There are modern successors to the G5, but I can't remember what they are exactly.
It is the smoothest and most accurate mouse I have ever used. It has a weight system allowing you to customize how quickly it moves over the surface. It has on-mouse sensitivity controls. It has the best grip of any mouse I have ever used.

I've got the G700 also. Amazing mouse. Forget its wireless all the time. Cant even tell. Very responsive and has enough buttons on it for me to assign weapon groups 1-5 and a macro that holds TAG for 15 seconds. Best mouse I've used, and I thought nothing would be better than my g5.

I still use a G5 too and consider it to be the best mouse ever made. My only gripe is lack of buttons. I tried to replace it with a Naga but even with all the extra buttons it could not compete with the G5. The size of the G5 is perfect for me and the accuracy is great but the adjustable weight is the thing that really makes it shine.

Edit:
I use the following setup of my keys.
Button 1: fire 1
Button 2: fire 2
Button 3: fire 3
Button 4: fire 4
Button 5: fire 5
The 12 thumb keys on the mouse are setup to simulate the Numpad.
1: Target Lock
2: Show target Overlay
3: Alpha strike
4: Toggle advanced zoom (just move the thumb down from target lock)
5: Show battlegrid
6: Scoreboard
7-12: currently not used

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm mainly an MMO player where having a bunch of extra buttons comes in handy. For MWO you probably only need a mouse with left click, right click, scroll wheel+click, and four extra buttons to assign your other weapon groups to.

This, except my throttle is actually a Thrustmaster Hotas X. I've had the Naga for almost 2 years now...nice mouse, but to my own shame I never really adapted to take advantage of the number pad on the side. In fact, I seldom use the mouse4/5 buttons.

anyway for this game something like 1800dpi is good enough... 1000hz polling rate would be nice too...

Eight buttons but too awkward to use for this (severed tendons don't help)... trying to hold dpi shift while firing multiple groups in short succession is kinda awkward. I'd like to have a look at the Saitek R.A.T. 7, it's dpi shift is in a better location, plus all the adjustments.... *drool*
Yes I know its mostly **** but i need a comfy mouse, otherwise my hand feels extremely strange when I reach with anything other than index + middle finger, and expensive mice are still much cheaper than a trip to the plastic surgeon:P
Edit: And by multiple weapon groups I don't mean gauss + 2 x erppc:D

Was 25 bucks.
Has lasted me more than 2 years so far (a record considering the frequent dropping, abuse, etc that occurs when your mouse is used on an sleek and rounded couch's armrest). Works pretty well. right 2 extra keys typically register as keyboard keys unless you use the software to program its buttons.
Left 2 extra keys count as "Mouse 5" and "Mouse 4" respectively from front to back.
The bottom center is adjust to program 1 (red), program 2 (green), program 3 (blue).
The center button is a sensitivity adjust with 4 or 5 presets. I like to toggle between them for sniping and close combat. There is of course mouse 3 under the wheel, but I never use that. This combined with my HOTAS gives me all the buttons I really need for 4 or more firing groups which allows me to carry some pretty mixed weapon builds.
