Give Ams A Built-In Ammo Slot For The First Ton

Poll: AMS and ammo slot (23 member(s) have cast votes)

Hey guys

my suggestion is:
Give AMS a built-in slot (similar to heat sink slots in 275< Engines) for the first ton of ammo.

Why?
Because there's already a little bulb on the AMS that (in real life comparison) contains ammo.
So give that ugly bulb a use and make it house the first ton of AMS ammo - any further AMS ammo has to be stored elsewhere in the chassis, like we already do.

What's the practical use?
I've already encountered a situation from now and there, that I have 1,5tons and only one slot left...it's not enough for a BAP and not for an AMS
that's why it would be nice, if the AMS per se could take one ton of ammo, thus only using only 1 slot for it's most basic functionality

What do you think about this idea?

edit: unfortunately I have ticked it as poll-only...this is fixed now
so please, explain your no-s :D

Its just not the way BT works, the critical systems separate things to give you that choice of where to put ammo and whatnot.

I would assume that "ugly bulb" is the electronics that detect incoming missiles

Wonder where they got that idea...

I love in-game allusions to real-world objects.

AMS definitely needs a buff. Although I dont think free ammo is a good idea.

I personally think AMS ammo should be doubled to 2000 per ton, since its identical to machine gun ammo, for all intents and purposes (battletech even has optional rules for firing ams at enemies using the machine gun profile).

I also think you should only get missile warnings if you have AMS equipped.

so is that the eletronics or where the ammo is stored?
always though that's where the ammo is fed from
why do goalkeepers and guardians need seperate eletronics when there's ship electronics?

That bulb would be the radome. Structurely-speaking, it woudl be a bad idea to put your munitions in a big white spot that's easily targetable.

You do see the exposed ammo feed under the barrels, right? If the weapon fed from the bulb you wouldn't have an exposed belt.

That is the radar and sensor array. Remember, the system is entirely autonomous, zero human input needed for operation (except on/off). That said, they interact with and in a way actually SUPPLEMENT the ship`s own arrays. (within their limited range), because they can find, track, lock on to, and hit targets that the ship`s own systems cannot even detect. Just not at 25 miles away.

If you look where the ammo is feeding from, you can kind of already get an idea of where it is stored... as said, an ammo belt for an internal feed is, well, flat out stupid from a design perspective, especially if it takes the ammo below the level of the weapon and has to cart it back up again. Access to the ammunition bay is under deck, where it is in a similar armored compartment to any other munitions. :P
