There should be a bidding mode variation on skirmish gameplay, where a teams bid against the other team to increase (or decrease) cbill reward by a multiplicative factor.

Making a bid will mean the team chooses to forego the use of certain mechs, weapons, team tonnage limit, etc in exchange for a larger cbill reward.

AFTER the bidding process is completed, players are brought to a series of mech selection/fitting screens (high tonnage mechs are issued on a first pick first serve basis within the team if a team tonnage limit was bid, while mech selections are constrained so that all players will be able to use at least the lightest trial mech available).

After five minutes or all players are ready, the game loads. Players who have not managed to fit their mech with an engine heat sinks or weapons are subjected to an auto-fit algorithm that strips equipment off and installs a minimum equipment set to clear the problem. (For example, a player who has fit a mech with an engine, and all remaining slots filled with heat sinks, no weapons - the auto-fit will remove a heatsink and install a small laser (the small laser does not belong to the player's hanger and it is removed after the match).

The team who has bid conservatively is punished by a c-bill multiplier of less than 1, according to the details of the bidding. The team that has bid more boldly is rewarded with a c-bill multiplier > 1.

Note that, of course, the losing team does not receive cbills, and the nominal amount of c-bills received by the winning team (given a multiplier of 1) is appropriately higher than a normal match given the higher stakes.
