=====================================================================================
The roar of auto cannons drown out the sounds of the warm spring evening. Giant battle mechs preformed a deadly dance lasers missiles and cannons blazing in the moonlight. The plains were littered with the wrecks of dozens of smaller vehicles. A 60 ton Dragon battlemech exploded under a hair of long range missiles the rounds smashing the already weakened armor protecting the Dragon’s fusion power plant the mech crumpled to the ground in a heap. A Panther light battle mech fell under a hail of short and missiles and the bright cobalt beam of a large laser. Finally a 65 ton JagerMech exploded taking the rounds from an auto cannon 10 to its back as well a quartet of brilliant green medium lasers. The mercenary captain Klaus von Sturkenstein was shook out of his battle haze from his second in commands voice coming over the comm.
“Kommandant the Dracs are retreating should we pursue?” The cool voice of First Leutnant Michelle McCann Said over the comm from her 65 Ton Thunderbolt standing on the ridge to Klaus’ Left.
“Negative 2 let the Drac cowards run I don’t want to give up our perimeter around the Space port.” Klaus replied stroking his beard.
Klaus flipped open the arm rest of his command chair and withdrew a cigar he struck a match and lit his cigar taking a long Drag on it and blowing out three rings of smoke.
“Get Salvage ops in here see if we can use any of this junk set regular patrols, and keep an eye out while salvage ops are in progress.”

Kommandant Klaus Von Sturkenstein looked around his Crusader’s cockpit viewing his displays his eyes drifted to the holographic image of his son and husband Klaus sighed, only two more months he thought to himself. Klaus was a Lyran military veteran he had served in the LCAF from the age of 18 and had let the service when he was 28 he had spent a few years fighting on Solaris and had become a light mech champion and placed well in the medium and heavy circuits. After that he returned home and used part of his family fortune to start his own mercenary corporation “The Drunken Huntsmen” He purchased a massive union class drop ship and had taken a number of mechs from his families guard for his own. Though Klaus could have enjoyed a life of luxury as a Lyran noble he preferred the life of a mech warrior. Klaus had brought a friend with him from Solaris a young mech warrior Tan Mingoung a cocky but decent mech warrior for his young age. He hired his friend Logan Joiner who had served with him in the Lyran military. His second in command had been a freelance mercenary down on her luck but Klaus had seen the potential in Michelle McCann and hired the young worm for his mercenary company after repairing her broken down Thunderbolt battle mech. Later another pilot Vladimir Smirnoff had joined them forming their original lance. Later another MechWarrior Gravis Stoneapples joined them a quiet and reserved mech warrior by most accounts but an excellent light mech pilot.

They had done several contracts around the inner sphere accomplishing everything from sabotage to riot control. Now they were providing security duty on a border world of the Free Rasslehauge Republic while their military assemble a unite to provide defense for the planet. Several renegade Draconis Combine military units had attempted to seize the world but had so far been unsuccessful. Klaus took stock of his mech he had suffered some light damage during their engagement but the Dracs had been caught off guard by their ambush. Klaus checked his ammunition stores. He still had three tons of ammunition for his Lrm 15 launchers and two tons for his srm 6 launcher Klaus had customized his mech removing the machine guns and one of the Srm 6 launchers for two additional medium lasers and three additional heat sinks. His mech was painted in a dark grey camo scheme as were the rest of his unit’s mech Klaus had had his mechtech’s paint the inscription “Victory or Nothing” across each of the mech’s shoulder as well as painting an interlocking symbol of mars on his mechs center torso displaying his sexuality finally a set of kill markers lined his left torso the silhouettes of the mech he had destroyed with a red slash through them.
