I apologise in advance if this issue has been brought up before.

On numerous occasions I have had the same map on consecutive runs of 5 or more. I find it very boring and annoying especially on days when I only have time for a few games and they all end up being on the same map.

I have also seen many players complain about this in-game many times over a period of over a year now.

I recommend implementing a server based rotation.

eg.

server time 4pm = Terra Therma for all players in queue
server time 5pm = Alpine for all players in queue
server time 6pm = Canyon Network

Etc Etc

edit : also add a new random rotation each day so people cannot figure out the system and abuse it by having specialised mech loadouts for each map.

This is just a vague example, of course timings could be adjusted such as having longer times for maps that have a longer average game and vice versa.

But ideally it would be nice to have 2 or maybe 3 games maximun on the same map in consecutive runs.

While I see merit in the idea, I also see potential for abuse. As soon as the players have figured out the exact rotation values for the maps, they'll start to prepare specialized builds for them and drop with those.

I prefer random maps, so that I have to adjust to the map in my playing, not in my loadout. If this means that I get streaks of 6 times the same map in a row, so be it. In the end it will even out.

Getting the same map over and over again could be solved by adding a certain penalty for the matchmaker to put a player into a match using the map they just played.

How would this be not preferential especially is you can do the same? Playing devil's advocate here, but our troops don't go into Iraq with arctic gear.....

This isn't real life. This is, per title, a battletech game. In battletech a pilot normaly doesn't get to chose the mech he needs for a specific task. He has one mech, usually unmodifyable, which he has to use in all situations.

As we have modifications and multiple mechs, being unable to choose the mech for the terrain and mssion is the last thing remaining of the battletech lore in that regard.

Not to mention, that it would make for a pretty boring game, if everyone brings the same builds, because everyone knows which map will be coming up next.

Well that could easily be avoided by adding a random rotation each day?
