Would you love to see and play as Comstar/Com Guards?

They (Comstar) uses a lot of lostech and mechs that no other Houses have. And I personally would love to field a Comstar 6 mech lance.

It always interested me that their "lance" equivalent was 6 mechs.

Actually Comstar almost never did any fighting, at least not openly so being in a Comstar faction you wouldnt see much action. :P

comstar did a lot of fighting lol.

All throught lore, the Com Guards were the main force that protected the HPG network. If a battle between House factions or some Mercs showed up on a planet that had a HPG and there was any fighting in the area of that HPG, you better believe Comstar got involved real quick! And Comstar was a major factor in the Clan Wars lol. And later durin the Word of Blake, Comstar was also there in force because WOB (for the most part) rised up out of Comstar. Comstar in the MW Univers is more or less the Republic of which the more fanatical Empire (WOB) came from lol.

To do what? Fight one battle? You do realize that's all they really did right?

Dark Ages and Word of Blake were terrible, lets not bring that into this.

We don't have an HPG network, it would be cool if we did, maybe people could actually find groups in the game instead of posting on the boards.

Comstar won the battle at Tukkkayyayyayayayaya, that was it.

i think you need to go back and look at Comstar's history. No saying they fought as much as the Houses or were out looking to fight. But they had their hands in everything and fought in many conflicts and wars. The largest being WOB. And Comstar did not only fight in one battle BS the clans if that's what you mean.

Well it is like I said, PGI chose the wrong time line for this game. They should have chose the Fed Com Civil War. I mean first of all there shouldn't be a Steiner and Davion faction at all in MWO since they aren't going to fight each other for about 20 years. Instead there should just be a Fed Com faction. Also this timeline leaves out allot of major factions like for example Comstar which while not doing much in 3050, became very active late in the original invasion and all the follow up engagements after. You would have also had alot more Clans available such as Wolf-in-exile, Nova Cats and Steel Vipers, not to mention the SLD.

Also the best part, wait for it......IS weapons and mechs had actually reached near parity with Clan mechs which means you wouldn't have this intensive whine-fest of Clans OP BS hehe.

the com guard were involved in many conflicts in the lore. Its just the most notable until the WOB was the battle that stopped the Clans. But that was not the ONLY battle they had with the Clans.

Until Tukayyid Comstar pretty much did everything behind the scenes and no one messed with them or their HPG stations for fear of having their communications disrupted. Almost no one even knew they could field such an impressive force until Tukayyid because Comstar did everything under wraps and they definitely did not get involved in any boarder skirmishes (at least in an official capacity). So at least for now in this time period (clans just invading) fighting as the Comstar faction is not right lore wise.

This. Then after that what did they do? They contributed some forces to Operation Bulldog, but even that was mostly the New Star League. Oh right, then they got kicked off Earth.

I could have sworn that early in the game I read that PGI was actually representing Comstar, I could be wrong.

QFT. Comstar couldn't be openly involved in any IS conflicts, because they tried their best to keep appearance of neutrality. They certainly could defend their HPG stations, but nobody would attack those for fear of interdiction. So, playing Comstar prior to Tukayyid battle would be just "cloak and dagger" activities.

No one would actually fight anywhere near an HPG array.

Well... considering the history of our unit (former ComGuards now Mercs), I would love that. :)

As Vasaggo said, nobody would have even gotten close to the HPG stations. That's the sole means of interplanetary communications besides physically schlepping a message on a Jump Ship, and nobody knows how to build/maintain/repair them other than comstar themselves. (Well, there's the Black Boxes, but those are extremely rare and only the FC has them IIRC)
