Buying a single camo should buy that camo for every mech. Apparantly thats technical too difficult for PGI which is why I suggest PGI create a set of new "cheap" camos which work on all current mechs and on all future mechs.
There are some good techniques to apply textures without needing a person to go and adjust each texture for each specific mech. For instance 3D textures can be applied to all mechs adjustments. The Yen-lo-wang camo is simple enough that it could be applied as a 3D texture on any mech (technically it would be a red sun with stripes applied on the X-Y plane).
I find it disappointing that PGI has problems to produce large number of "cheap" camos for every mech when there are techniques to automatically map certain kinds of camos that have simple patterns.
We need more mech camos in the game

It's not that it is too "Technically Difficult". It's part of the "Freemium" system they use. The game is F2P, so they fund it by making people pay through the nose for everything else. At least they are giving away Mechbays on a semi-regular basis.
At least, I assume your argument is "Why do we have to spend money on this game".
If however your argument is "Why don't we have more camos than what we already have?", I can only assume the art team is currently devoted to making more Mechs that they can sell in Packages. After all, they have to pay for the server time somehow.
However, I do agree that it would be nice to have more Camo Variety, especially if the Camos actually worked in regards to making your mech harder to spot. Would also be nice to have Camos that automatically change based on the World Type you are on. So, being able to buy a Volcanic, a Temperate, an Urban, and an Alpine for each mech, as an example.

I'd pay for cheaper simpler camos for my clan mechs because they come with a stripe...which is a total copout.
