Greetings MechWarriors,
The tonnage values for the Group Queue have been adjusted.
Head over to the dedicated Group Tonnage Value thread to see the latest (and previous) tonnage values.

I know people are going to gripe about PGI reducing max tonnage of smaller groups. However, from what I have seen most of the smaller casual groups don't ever seem to get close to using up their available tonnage. The small groups who made sure to take advantage of the generous tonnage allowances were the type of premades that probably didn't need a handicap in the first place.

Not griping, but just throwing this out. Under the max tonnage, you would not be able to field a full 3/3/3/3 team. We all know that is not how the teams usually end up anyway, but I would like to think there would be an option.

I based my numbers on the lowest tonnage for each class.

3 x 80 = 240
3 × 60 = 180
3 × 40 = 120
3 × 25 = 75

Total = 615 tons.

Sorry forgot the locust. So inner sphere could field a 3/3/3/3 by going with the lightest in each class. The clans however have no light mech in the 20 ton area. They would not be able to field a 3/3/3/3.

Looks good im happy to see these changes. 6 players team almost had more power than a 12 man team.

Now if they can just keep any team from running 7+ assaults i think it would be spot on..

Why would you handicap yourself by trying to adhere to some artificial 3/3/3/3 rule anyways?

For the fun of it.

Why not try to challenge yourself, and your team.

I find it odd that the smallest jump in weight is when going from 4man to 5man which only gives you 10 more tons. Compared to 3 to 4 which is 70tons and 5 to 6 at 55tons.
What is the reasoning for that?

There is no way I can see it being ok for a 4man team to bring 3 or 4 assaults.

I'm going to guess more people run 4 man teams than 5 man. When you are the smaller part of the population prepare to be nerfed for the larger.

4 Battlemasters for example. It's way too generous, especially as teams of 4 have a minor advantage in being a complete lance. With 5, it's just a bit more awkward.

Not that there will be much sympathy, but I feel 12 mans are hard done by. If you drop against 2 teams, both of them effectively get a tonnage advantage on top of their 50T per mech. For 10 man premade, thats a 35T bonus, even inspite of being paired up with an overweight pair.

Consider:

1 Group
(12) - 600T

2 Groups
(2,10) -735T
(3, 9) - 790T
(4,8) - 840T
(5,7) - 805T
(6,6) - 810T

3 Groups (a few combinations)
(2,2,8) - 900T
(2,5,5) - 900T
(3,4,5) - 960T
(3,3,6) - 945T
(4,4,4) - 1020T!!!!

(4,8) and (4,4,4) stand out as being at a heavy advantage.
