PPCs suck that's why. There is no point running them on heavier chassis because the ghost heat deprives them of their pinpoint utility among other failings.

Now that the Black Knight has been properly nerfed the Awesome can compete as a laser boat. You know what you need to do, strap some large pulse lasers on it and call it a day. Also you can successfully run a standard engine in a 9M.

Well, if your chain firing ppcs (1 at a time)... Then you are doing it wrong. I see this from time to time. Ghost heat doesnt kick into until 3+ ppcs, so you can easilly fire 2 at a time. The whole point of PPFLD is to fire a strong concentrated shot in 1 click, and then either shield or fall into cover. Its not about dps, or damage to heat. Its about large damage to 1 component, with the added protection of being able to negate or midigate incoming damage.

Lasers (even Pulse lasers), have a burn time, where your opponent can spread or hide from before all the damage is elapsed.

So, if you are standing out in the open in your awesome chain firing ppcs like a stationary dps turret, then I can honestelly tell you, you need to switch weapons.

The 9M is a LPL boat, you want the Q for PPC. ALso the PPC can be very effective if played right. group fire were posuple but chain fire is usful and help mange heat.
