Key bindings are default,
yet the backslash key does not activate alpha strike
keyboard is UK querty.
keyboard is not broken, have tested in text application, backslash types backslash
cannot continue basic training.

have you tried binding the alpha key to something else and try? personally, mine is bind to E

backslash? backslash is normaly default assign chainfire for weapon groups
go settings lower right corner> keyboard> there you can bind functions to any key> fast doubleklick on function you want to rebind and click key you want

Backslash (\) is the default Alpha key. Backspace is the default chain fire key.
Anyway, probably best to just reassign the function key to a different one for the Tut, so you can pass through it. You can always change it back if you wish. Maybe Right Control might be a reasonable spot for it?

I remember running into something like this in the Academy. I don't recall what I figured out was happening - I fixed it by rebinding the key. However, if memory serves, there's a point in the Academy's scripting that won't let you use Alpha Strike - your issue may have something to do with that.

Made a new account yesterday to start playing at tier 4/5 with a friend who's just trying the game for the first time. We both went through the tutorial and encountered the same issue.
If you go and check your keybindings then try and set the alpha strike to '\' then it instead sets the binding to a string that seems to represent a code for that key. It works fine from then on.
