So just had a quickplay game with the enemy team had a 850 tons VS our 560 tons.
Yes I get that they're are divisions for mechs, but this is almost exactly a 300 ton advantage for one team.
That's totally rediculous. Why?

SoloQ MM works with having equal number of different weight classes, not tons.

Tonnage is not everything you know.

I can see that happening in group queue, but in solo that sounds suspect. Hope you took a screenshot and can send it to PGI.
That's a more than 70 ton avg. vs. a less than 50 ton avg. Not sure you could even have equal numbers of various mech classes and make that happen.
Just spitballing, but if you had 3 of each class (and that's not guaranteed), the biggest weight diff you could have, assuming one team always had the lightest mech in a class while the other had the heaviest, would be:
[(35-20)+(55-40)+(75-60)+(100-80)]*3 = 195 tons.
If you had all assaults, the biggest difference would be 240 tons.
Would like to see a screenshot.

This probably happened in GQ, where it does happen on a frequent basis.

I dropped last night with 6 assaults in QP...and they were the shyest assaults ever. I play assaults pretty aggressively and wasn't in one at the time but man...So many assaults...all scared to scratch paint.

If this is the Group queue, the tonnage limits are set per group based on group size. The larger the group the lower average tonnage per mech. What can not be controlled is whether or not the other groups bring near max their allowable tonnage.

For Solo queue, matching weight class only.

That's every match every day on the Oceanic server.
And also why I don't play QP anymore, unless there's MC on offer.

There is matchmaking in MWO???
I rarely see equal tonnage or even equal class matchmaking

Almost certainly group queue.
Happens most often when a couple nitwits drop a 2 or 3man in lights or mediums and bone their team.

Just had one of those. We had 4 twenty tonners and one 'mech above 75, which was disconnected no less. They had 4 assaults and two 'mechs under 65 tons.
Probably the most inexplicable match I've ever played. 10v12, averaging 20 tons lighter, only four guys topped 200 damage, and yet we won.
Also of note, the guy who never loaded into the match got 14 match score. The guy who loaded in but disconnected before it started got 0. The lesson here is that if you're going to crash, crash as early as possible.
