Hi guys, first post but long time lurker. I am an MW4 vet and am very excited for MWO. I'm building a new PC just to be able to play this game (the old Dell is on her last legs) and am very excited to start playing later this week. That being said I am looking to the Hunchback for a first owned Mech but I can't decide between the HBK-4G and the HBK-4H. I like the raw power of the AC20 in the 4G but am also attracted to the versatility that more lasers bring with the 4H. What have you guys experienced with these two variants and what builds do you think work best? Please help guys!

I'd say unless you're likely to go for multiple lighter ballistics in the torso at some point (A pair of AC/5, 2 - 3 AC/2), then go the H.

The H is 2 extra energy slots in the RT. Only limitation is the single ballistic. It really is more potent, and lets you bring torso mounted large energy (PPCs benefit from this) to the table.

The 4H can mimic the stock 4G build, plus it has more energy points. Machine guns are getting a buff, so maybe having more ballistic spots on the 4G may be more useful, but I would think the 4H has a bit more versatility.

PPCs have to play hell with the heat management on a Hunch though don't they? I guess I could put more heat sinks in later if I really wanted to go that heavy on energy weapons.

Not experienced on all the Hunch variants, but I bought a new pc for this game. It had a mid range AMD graphics card and it was nothing but troubles. Installed a GTX 660 ti, problem solved. Unless you can afford a high end AMD I would stick with Nvidia.

Endo steel plus double heat sinks solve a lot of heat problems. I hated my YLW, until I got them, then I loved it.

The only way I can compare this level of sexiness would be by posting an image of a pair of adult film actresses rubbing their oiled nude bodies against one another, but that would be against the posting guidelines.

So please just imagine it instead.

Yeah I have that exact Video card.

All Energy Weapons versus Ballistics have the heat versus ammo argument.

PPC versus AC/10
7 versus 12 tons
9 versus 3 heat
Range the same (90 m minimum on PPCs
RoF about the same
Damage the same
Infinite ammo versus 1 ton and 1 critical per 15 shots.
Heat sinks are usable by any weapon.

It is all about compromises and personal preferences.

Ballistics (G), or Energy (H)

As pointed out though, the H can do a G stock build, the G can't do the H stock build.

I usually take ballistics over energy, there is just something so satisfying about lobbing projectiles the size of a family car at somebody. However I do want to minimize ammo tonnage so there is that. I'll probably stick with an AC10 and end up putting a mix of large and med lasers in the torso.

As someone who has used the 4g(all the way to masters) a lot I can say that the 4h would be better if you can still put the ac/20 in. I ussually run a 4g with endo, dhs, ac/20, 3mpl and get 400+ dmg consistantly.

Also I run a 3570k and amd radeon hd 7870 and run the game on max setting fine, I would go with amd because they are cheaper, and run great but nvidia is great too.

With the coming change to Machine Guns the 4G may get more respect. It's a solid mech but as has been noted if you are using a single ballistic the 4H is superior. Here's what I currently run on my 4G:

2 AC5 3 Ml STD235
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e762c2f702a5585

And here's my 4H:
1 UAC5 5 ML STD260
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...aea76091b79e3e2

Both are solid. I might give something like a 1 UAC5 2 MGUN 3 ML 4G build a run after they are buffed.

This thread was posted in the wrong section (General discussion), thus it was moved to "Mech discussion".

Something kind of like this:

1 UAC5 2 MGUN 3 ML AMS STD260

The 4H can fit the AC20 and then add another medium laser (or two) that the 4G doesn't have. So I'd go with the 4H. My 4H has an AC20, 2 x MLAS, and 2 x MPLAS. I love it.

The Stock loadout of the -4G is a killer, but if you only want one Ballistic slot take the -4H, then change the R.Torso to match.

The -4H has a smaller hitbox, and has 2 laser slots for something smaller than AC/20 being loaded.

Honestly, Im not a fan of any of the Hunchies except the 4SP. I have a founder 4G that I use with modified stock (DHS, 3 ML, better armor disbursement) that is a great assault escort mech. Aside form that role (which if played right means you wont come under as much fire), the 4G, 4H and 4P all get their torsos taken out FAR too quickly for my taste.

The 4 SP though...now THAT is a mech. 5 ML and 2 SRM6 + Artemis, 3 LL, 5 mpl, even 3 ml, 2 LRM15 are all good configs. Weapons are spread out, so it can be viable for a long time in a fight.

If you want any Hunchie, get the 4SP.

Not sure if it's just my experience with Centurions leaking over, but it's always the LT blown off first (the side loaded with DHS). I strangely need to invest more into the R.Arm since it isn't being blown off in 50% of my matches.
