Zion: 1. What makes The Remnant different that other Mercenary corporations?
Orzorn:I'd imagine it shares a lot of similarities, but from the perspective of an outsider looking in to these other organizations, I'd say we're very much influenced by the fact that we are a heavy mix of new and old. Our structure is not a traditional one, and people are encouraged to work in tight knit groups that they create for themselves. Our corporals have been hard at work making their own lances and getting people into them, and we've even got groups ran by our newest private members and sponsored by officers. I'm very pleased to see people taking such initiative. And I think that's what the Remnant is about; Initiative. Envisioning the future and then making it a reality, with or without any sort of politics or higher up meddling. So much of what's happened in the Remnant has taken place without me needing to stick my fingers in the pie. Then again, that's how I set it up in the first place, and I'm pleased to see our members putting such effort into everything.]
Zion: 2.What kind of players do well in Remnant?
Orzorn: People who aren't afraid to play in the mud. A lot of our process is iterative. We might come up with an idea, try it out, discuss the heck out of it, and then start the process again. Our forums are full of such ideas and posts that we've worked on. People who are really good at thinking in an out of the box and independent way do very well in the Remnant. Like I said, I don't know much about other organizations, but the way the Remnant is, we don't like to have bosses and followers. In my eyes, everyone is equal (although you are going to have to listen to a lance commander, just to make sure we're all shooting at the same target!
, and we totally encourage people to come up with new ideas, and even critique current ones. We get stronger through our collective ideas, and that requires a good mind and ignoring the instinct to conform. If we aren't just harping philosophically, any type of player can do well in the Remnant thanks to our compartmentalized lance structure. We have a lances set up for almost every play style, and you yourself are allowed to pick which one (or ones) you want to participate in. You are never assigned a lance, you seek it out yourself. As I said above, players who take initiative are supported and thrive within our ranks.[/color]
Zion: 3.What would you like to say to possible recruits reading this?
Orzorn: I'd say the Remnant is very odd. We're a merc corp through and through, we have ranks and rules, but those rules set us up so that we're actually extremely flexible and allow our recruits great freedom. We support every play style, and you're allowed to pick what lances you wish to participate in. You're free to express yourself and your ideas (so long as you're polite about it!), and we've got forums set up specifically for doing so. All in all, I'd say what we've constructed is a group where you help make the decisions, and you choose how you want to better yourself, while being surrounded by skilled, intelligent, and kind players.

Zion: 1.What kind of role do you see The Remnant fullfilling within the MWO community?
Orzorn: We've put a lot of effort into our structure and rules to actually try to create a group that makes it easier and more supportive to not have to worry about those structures and rules. When I thought up some of our rank rules, the first thing that came to mind was to allow people to set up their own lances and be responsible for who was in them. Anybody can choose what lance they want to participate in, and it creates an environment where players seek out the part of the game they enjoy the most and want to grow the best at. I think thats what the Remnant really does to help the community out; we're a helpful force that teaches and encourages players, rather than forcing them into a rigid structure. The Remnant is about recursive growth of players as a resource. As we get new people and they choose how best to grow and become better players at whatever they choose for themselves, they will be able to teach and help the next set of players, and lead them to the best resources to help those players grow into whatever they want. If anything, the Remnant represents choices amongst a sea of rigidity.
Zion: 2. With Community Warfare in mind where will The Remnant stand on the idea of strategic partnerships and alliances.
Orzorn: One of the best things we've done was to battle other corps when they contacted us. It helps us grow our sets of strategies and tactics, and we have loads of fun doing it. I don't know how PGI will set up Community Warfare exactly, but we can be assured that if alliances and partnerships can be made, the Remnant will do so with the best and brightest of corps. In fact, now that I've thought of it, if there are small upstarts that need help gaining a foothold (rather than getting stomped by all the big guys), I'd even like to do that as well. Help rather than hinder is the Remnant way.
Zion: 3.Do you have anything to say to all the other Mer Corps/House units out there?
Orzorn: I can only ask that they keep in mind the point of the game is to have fun, and that being kind and intelligent in the face of overwhelming negativity is a virtue we should all strive for. Always try to see the good in people, they might have a good idea or argument and just can't form it properly or without anger. Try to keep your members to this ideal and it can help foster a better community, both for the MWO forums and for yourself.
Besides that, feel free to hit us up for premade battles! We're always ready for a good scrap and we've already had a lot of history fighting (hehe, and winning) against some of the top groups already. Mutual play promotes good growth, good sportsmanship, and a better community.
