So I'm sitting back on this lovely Tuesday night (yes I get the patch wednesday morning) and I was thinking... are you going to buy a Trebuchet, and if so what's your poison?

Myself, after using what information released am probably going to go with the 5J, and 7M mostly for the jumpjets. Thinking of setting one up as a SRM hit and run build, or even mobile LRM's. Whilst the other get's turned into a possible energy sniper. Then to round off a 5K, converting it into a PPC sniper, or a modified Guass user with SSRM2 and ML back-up.

Of course this all means squat if an ecm variant comes out... still an unknown possibility since the ecm disrupt is coming. So what are you looking forward to doing with your Trebuchet's?!

PS. All these babies will be moving at least 103kph... I can see the common speed reaching the 110 mark.

Will buy 3, deciding which ones once the hardpoint details are known. Will keep at least 1 after mastering them, rather 2-3 if they are any good. I really enjoy playing mediums, probably because i dont do 8s.

Planned to buy 3 and it will happen eventually, but not as fast. Was planning (via Excel Mechlab) for three variants, all 5-modells, but the mechlab predicted the hardpoints a bit wrong and there went my planning. :( All 5s would've had the benefit of being cheap, because none of the 5s carry advanced eqipment.

At first, I wanted to get the 5N for it's three missile hardpoints, but now it only has 2. The 7N has the three, but is among the most expensive Trebuchet variants due to a build-in xl-engine which I don't need and don't want.

So it'll still be the 5N for starters, to test the lrm capabilities of this mech. And sometime later the 7N, for which I have prepared several builds (lrm only, lrm + streak, srm + streak, with or without jump jets and so on). Other then those two...not sure what the third variant will be. :)

Been waiting for this one for sooooo long...and for the first time since MW2: Mercs, the Centurion and Trebuchet can operate side-by-side, as ceilingcat intended.

Ill get 3.

Ill get one for maximum speed, one for best missile mounting style/overall mount style, and one for uniqueness.

So probably the 3C, 7M, and 7K.

3C is supposed to be super fast capable and with 2 LRM15's and 4x Laser possible its looking pretty good.
7M Has JJ and decent speed with a good amount of Missile points. (The NARC might make one of the points unusable...)
7K has a full mix of weapons which makes it kind of unique. Gauss/LRM15/ERPPC anyone?

Depending on hardpoints I'm planning to go with whatever has superior speed and is energy/missile heavy, preferably in a torso. If I like it, i'll buy more variants.

Out of curiosity, are you guys getting the variants from Sarna?

I can see everyone stuffing them full of SRMs or Streaks, so I'm going to buy one, and employ it as LRM support that can easily redeploy and avoid enemies.

My prediction: I'll be crap at it :(

Way to play it like its meant to be played DR.

With its possible speed and torso twist you might be able to kite with it effectively. 100+kph with a good smattering of LRM loving and Lasers is a recipie for badass. Toss in JJ? Golden.

Why does that sound familiar?... I swear I've heard of a similar build it's just recalling which mech had it.

Jumpjets sound good! Could be quite irritating and illusive.

3c sounds almost like a big slightly slower Jenner that cant jump. And mounts LRM15's instead of streaks.... Or a hunchback 4sp.... with LRM's instead of SRM's and much faster.

7K reminds me of some cataphracts I think...

You must cast your vote in each question of the poll

What? I can't vote? There's only 1 question! Anyway, I like mediums so may give this a try... later on.

I would buy one first and then have a look how the mech suits me. I for myself don't like the Cent or Hunchie very much (had one each for experiments) but the Trebuchet seems nice to me and I really want to play one Mech in that league. I hope that the Trebuchet will not feel like a catapult with different look.

Planning to buy one (prolly 3C, I may enjoy having another xl 300 around) and see how it feels. If I find it good I'll then evaluate the variants that fits me and master those I find ok for my gamestyle.

Will pick up the 5N first and give her a spin.
Planned load out
2 LRM15 + Artemis
2 MLas
1 TAG

If I like it, will plan to get the 7M and 3C for more of the same.

The Trebuchet has the potential to become the best medium in the game. It largely hinges on a few things:
  • Quantity of Missile Hardpoints -- any variant with 3 or more almost instantly has potential, able to combine the burst damage of the 9-A Centurion SRM6 Bomber with the speed of the 9-D Centurion SRM-6 Bomber. Without large numbers of missile slots for SRMs, it is hard to see this replacing the CN9-A or 4SP as the principle light mech, since so many weapons will be in the vulnerable arms, and the speed advantage is only really possible with an XL engine.
  • Quality of Missile Hardpoints -- the NARC slot is surely a bust, because missiles will stream out one at a time (making Streak 2s the only real choice), but each LRM 15 slot will allow for SRM6s to flow freely. If there is a Trebuchet where 18+ missiles can launch simultaneously for 3 different hardpoints, this this has potential to be quite viable.
  • Hitboxes - there has to be some concern from the concept art. The mech looks great, but those arms are huge, the torso is big, and the head is a giant bullseye. If the hitboxes are terrible, it might still be usable because of the speed + firepower, but it could be like the old (enormous) Centurion.
The main, go-to medium mechs right now are generally the 4SP (4-5 Mlas, 2 SRM6) for it's durability or the CN9-A (2 MLas, 3 SRM6) for the nuke, while 3M Cicadas, 4Ps, and 9-Ds are also regulars at medium -- but the Trebuchet has potential to become a perfect jack of all trades, having some of the speed of the 9-D and Cicada, with the firepower of 4SPs and 9-As.

Hardpoints and hitboxes -- are what it is all going to come down to with this mech. But seriously, this has some serious potential, but it might also be a bust.

If one had 4 missile slots and ECM it would be an instant hit.

Honestly it looks like it will be a dud as the hunchback will have more lasers and more missiles and the centurian will be faster with more of both as well.

You can't really make a LRM medium.

I'm only really interested in the jump jet variants, we'll see which of them has hardpoints that I prefer
