All I'm saying is, the way they're doing this will greatly benefit those who, for whatever reason, are below their proper Elo at the start of the event.

Maybe the act of 'opting in' resets your Elo. Otherwise what is the point of opting in. Why wouldnt they just track the stats of everyone playing, since they track them anyway.

NONE OF THIS MAKES ANY SENSE TO BROCERATOPS BUT HE IS EXCITED ANYWAY

I doubt that anyone would drop their elo on purpose just to get a banner.

Oh, wait. This is the internet. Never mind.

I'd do it since I'll get back to my Elo anyway, plus I get a weekend of pugstomping and maybe a banner!

You have one option to tank it.
You make an alt, but then you don't get the banner on your actual account, and you don't have all the good mechs you're used to.

So no, I don't see how they're gonna tank anything. 10 am canada time? Not a lot of hours unil it starts.

Thats about 15 hours from now. You could play a ton of rush in suicide, quit, repeat games in that amount of time. Especially if you just run some scripts.

I don't think a lot of people will do that though. The banner is only a bragging rights kind of thing and it wouldn't make sense to kill your stats to get that. Especially since they were talking about making stats public at some point. Now if the reward was some free MC or mech or premium time or something like that...

I was thinking the same thing. A good way to get people to do what you need is offer a reward its not unheard of in online games because gamers never do something without some incentive. So its not lame its smart. Ask yourselves would any of you if asked by pgi to only drop in solo queues this weekend would you had they not dangled a carrot? I doubt it highly.

Not sure if it's a "lame" attempt...might actually be an effective attempt. The more accurate the Elo scores are, the better the matchmaking will be.
