Hi, please make alternative voice packs for B'ing Betty. You could even sell them as DLC, or, if you were really amazing, for free.

Here are some ideas. Just a few.

1) Cabal AI from C&C Tiberian Sun

2) GlaDOS

3) R2-D2

Any other ideas?

While I don't mind (realistically obtainable) swap packs for this I will personally never use them. THE Betty's back in my ear and she can stay there and tell me I'm just about to die in various horrible ways. Betty <3 Forever.

and that's what they should be spending their money on? some ripped off of other games sounds that dont belong in mechwarrior at all?

i'd rather they put their money into this game, not licensing sounds from others.

while i poopoo the idea, i dont see anything wrong with having a way for users to replace them themselves as a mod or something, then you could add whatever ridiculous and out of place sounds you want, it is your mech after all

Exactly. I don't think anyone expects PGI to just lift a well-known voice from another property without permission. That said, I am guessing that *some* IP holders and voice actors (though obviously not all) would jump at the chance to earn ongoing royalties on a current game. Heck, it's practically free press for their own properties since any derived works would likely be complimentary rather than competitive. After all, someone who gets GLaDOS package would just be cementing their love for Portal and if you let spectators hear it too, then it would likely earn additional followers.

Even so, I think it's possible to retain the voice actor's services even if they're not specifically emulating specific characters. Heck, watch the trailer for Pacific Rim where the computer sounds exactly like GLaDOS.

That said, I'd be satisfied with the ability to sub out your own sound files client-side.

This was actually suggested a while back...it was quite a popular suggestion if I recall correctly. I know I liked it...and I still do.

First off I say great idea, dumb choice of voices for obvious reasons of copyright infringement and due to the fact that it's just uncreative. I think with their own stock of alternate system voices or maybe the ability to make one by altering sliders on values such as the pitch and tone for a voice would be more viable. I know in battletech lore some mechwarriors would change the system voice of their mechs to match those of their wives or girlfriends but I don't know how feasible that would be for this game either.
