ERPPC Atlas have a bad habit of TKing at long ranges.

It's actually a lot more fun than I thought. I've popped quite a few Mechs now at long range with the combined firepower of 4 PPCs and 1 Gauss Rifle. It does really suck when a light decides to harass you, though.

I played a match in it just today where I got the last three kills while solo defending our base to win the match. It is better than a Stalker PPC boat because heat is not as much of an issue.
The only reason I don't play it more is the play style is fairly boring. I spend way more time in my faster mechs. I have one of each mech Chassis in the game and I would say this is the most overpowered of them all.

All it takes is one decently fast competent light/medium pilot to ruin your day, though if you mount ERPPCs (and deal with the added heat issues) you can defend yourself better.

My approximate D build uses PPC's. One of my first and favorite builds on the Atlas. It's a nice mid-range brawler, but don't run up into the face of an SRM brawler or something like that.
The reason PPCs aren't really seen often on Atlases is because x2 UAC/5 and the DC are more popular. The AC's take up the spare tonnage you would use on PPC's, and the DC doesn't have the hardpoints to fit fallback. UAC's provide better distance, the same potential burst, and overall better DPS.

If you boat them, you just run into the same problem as any other boat. You can get caught outside your comfort zone and hammered. If you don't like that, then just don't boat them and pick up one or two solid weapons instead. The Atlas arm issue is not nearly as bad as it once was. He is wide, though, so getting both arms to fire between close buildings is tough... but doable.
The 4x PPC Atlas works great on a team, though. My friend runs his (4xPPC and a Gauss) and I run bodyguard for him in a Cataphract. The combo can really tear people up and has surprised many a light or medium mech that thought they were getting a nice, easy close-in kill.

Fascinating. I have never heard people commenting on the one PPC I have on my D-DC. In fact, if someone comments at all, they find it hard to believe I managed to shoehorn both an Ultra AC/5 and a Gauss in the opposite torso.
My Atlas hasn't really left the mechbay since the last patch. I've been working on Trebuchet mastery most recently. But even before the PPC ECM countering ability it is a really good weapon to use. It's just that people really don't know how to use it properly. Or how easy it is to use properly, for that matter. (Oh and yes, one of my new Trebuchets has a PPC, too.)

I have this as well and it's one of my best and most fun mechs to play. Occasionally, someone gets withing the 90m range and you're in trouble, but that doesn't happen too often.

I have used the 4 ER/PPC R build as well as 2ERPPC and two LG Laser build. While the 4 is fun I found the erppc/LL more rounded for pugging if nothing else.
