Has anyone tried it?

It's the version I bought and so far I am not super impressed. I know it's got an XL engine, but it seems I end up dying SUPER fast in every game? Like a couple of shots and I'm dead.

I have tried different classes of mech. I also have a Cicada, which is another Medium. So, I wouldn't think it's just me not being used to lighter classes.

Anyone has any comments on the matter? Has anyone tried the 3C and loved it?

Thanks

I love my 3C, protip - stock armor is super poopy you gotta add quite a bit so you're not a pinata.

All the Trenchers come with GARBAGE for armor. You absolutely have to dump ~2 tons into it in order to survive more than a few seconds. Also, USE THAT SPEED!!! Never stand still. The TBTs real advantage is its speed and JJs. Use it!

Never run any mech you buy stock.
NEVER.
Always look at it in the mechlab and do some minor adjustments, like moving the ammo to cockpit and legs, changing heatsinks to doubles, maxing CT and side-torso armor.
Some mechs are almost good stock, but they are few and far between. If you want to keep stock weapons loadout feel free, just dear god mess with the rest of it or expect to die.

There you go. It keeps the spirit of the original build while fixing the terrible armor. I don't like mixing arm and torso lasers anyway.

Probably my second fave Treb.

I run max armor, 4 medium Pulse lasers, 2 streaks and 17 DHS. And everything else is engine. I use it as a scout hunter. But in most cases I prefer the TBT-7K, which is something I never expected.

The mech is awesome. It's like an invisible ninja that teleports around the map and then kicks you in the face.

I run something similar, but with 5 rather than 3 ammo and no artemis (for now). Probably gonna do Art., and lose armor from less vulnerable places. It's really not supposed to get hit anyway. But 3 ammo seems like too little to me.

Its because the Trebuchet is absurdly large. Its as tall as an Awesome. I find that the 7M is the only viable Trebuchet bcause of jumpjets.

I build my 7M with 2 SRM6s and 3 MLs. With and XL325, 5 JJs and an extra 2.5ish tons of armor is pretty silly good for pug matches.

Like a faster 4SP with jump jets averaging 700 damage a game kinda good.

Prolly not viable for competitive play with all the sniper builds but it sure is fun in pugs.

I like the 5n. It has all the energy in the arms which is great, and can twist its torso farther. While the 3c can fit a larger engine I don't ever see a time I would put a over a 325 in a Treb. This is mostly because the Treb torsos are quite large so I run a standard 260. Still goes over 90 with speed tweak which is plenty fast.

I picked up the -3C on the 19th, and have been running it stock since. I love it. I realize it's made of paper but I knew that going in. Use the speed to stay on the fringes of the battle while you rain missiles on anyone in the open. Stay out of the thick of it, and if anyone charges you hit them with your MLs. I might take off the torso-mounted laser and put an extra ton of armor in, but even stock I've been getting 2-3 kills a match on average.

I never use an XL engine in a medium; I don't like them using them at all in fact. I fought an awesome with an XL engine in a medium 1v1 and he died so fast because of his XL.

They aren't worth it on the Cent or Hunch, as they're too slow. The Treb can actually get up to a really healthy clip and pack some decent firepower and maneuverability in the form of jump jets. You can't play a brawler with an XL, that's for sure. It's a wicked fun little mid-to-long range harasser that can cause tons of chaos from the enemy's flanks. I'm quite enjoying it.

For what it's worth...got 7 kills and 1 assist, 984 damage with my 3C last round. 6 of those kills were with my lasers. Only thing I changed from stock was down one laser and up a ton of armor. And no, I don't have proof, because apparently print screen only results in a black window? Sigh.
