The link from homepage seems a bit vague. It sounds like you can play different mechs in the same weight category or even chassis type and not "dilute" your score for the weekend. You are rated per overall "score" and "score" in a weight class, but not in a specific mech. It also sounds like you have a better shot of ranking high if you stick to mechs within one weight class, ie your best/favorite weight class so that you can rack up points for that class most efficiently in addition to overall. So ideally you play 2-3 mechs all in same weight category. Also, the "score" is based on KDR, component destruction, assists, and other combat achievement oriented stuff rather than team wins or resource points. If this is in fact true, then you are discouraged from playing conquest mode or random mode where you are tempted to run around, and should stick to assault where you are tempted to engage in combat. Am I interpreting things correctly?

It seemed pretty clear to me. If you play lights, all your scores when playing lights, no matter what chassis, are attributed to your score, both for that weight class and overall. You need to participate in all weight classes to achieve a high score for the overall champion. Unless one is awesome in just one weight class and can carry the zeroes with no problem from the other classes.

I don't quite understand their formula of aggregate score: "total event players - light, etc." How exactly are you incentivised to play all four weight classes of mechs rather than sticking to one or two classes, even if you don't care about achieving your weight category rank. Also, it appears that your "score" per match for this tournament is not exactly your score per match as we now play. It doesn't take into account NARC/TAG though it does score spotting. It does take into account winning the round separate from any individual combat achievements so you are rewarded for base capping even team base rushing if you need to. It says nothing of resource points adding to your score. It would seem to me that you should stay away from conquest and play assault exclusively. On assault you need to decide if you want to fight for scores or base rush for score. Either strategy gives you tournament points. Please correct me on this if my logic is flawed.

Easy :

You drop alone ! not in Team of 2 or in team of 4 or 8.

Eavery time you play, you get a match-score after each game. You add all those scores, divide it by the number of games you had. This gves you your average score. You compare that average score with all other players...voila...your ranking.

Means: If you make only 1 game, and get a score of (inser very very very high number). Dont play that class again. You can only cripple yourself by making it worse. 100 divided by 1 is 100. But one good game and a medium game: 100 and 50 are 150 divided by 2 is 75

So...may the pugs be with you!

I agree with you. Assault would be the way to go if you're tryharding to win.

You can focus on one weight class and try to win it or you can go for overall champion. You can't do both. That's what the formula is for.

It's plus. So if your score is 30 in lights, then it's 30+0+0+0 for your overall score. Which I would think pretty much guarantees one to not win the overall.

I'd synch drop with 20, have my buddies tk whatever poor ******** arent part of the shenanigan, and then strip every piece of armor and internals before killing everyone. BAM I just had a 2000 damage 5+ kill game with spotting bonus which resulted in a victory.

Repeat 3 times and I am done for the weekend.

See the problem? :P

Yep...not the game is the problem, but the ideas players like you get? :D

Lets all syncdrop! Thats the solution! I promise, PGI will think twice about making another event like it

GLOBAL WINNER = (Total Event Players – Light Rank) + (Total Event Players – Medium Rank) + (Total Event Players – Heavy Rank) + (Total Event Players – Assault Rank)

If you're highly ranked in all classes you're number will be higher. Highest number wins overall mechwarrior grand prize. Class rank is determined by an unstated formula utilizing Win/Loss Ratio, Kills, Kill Assists, Capture Assists, Spotting Assists, and Games Played.

For example, if broceratops plays A1s exclusively and wins the Heavy rank. His rank is 1. He didn't play any other class.

TEP = 1000
LR=1000
MR=1000
HR=1
LR=1000

(1000-1000)+(1000-1000)+(1000-1)+(1000-1000) = 999

I play all classes and get in the middle for all ranks.

(1000-500)+(1000-500)+(1000-500)+(1000-500) = 2000

My score is higher and I win overall mechwarrior champion.

Understand?

They also give points for games played overall, even if you suck. That makes it an endurance event. You want games to go fast and not draw out. Another reason to avoid conquest, where 1-2 mechs can run around capping and prolonging game. They also don't give points for component destruction i combat, only kills and assist kill points. So again, it is not the same scoring rules as we are now using.

- coffee reserves filled? Check!
- Wife in a coma? Check!

Ok...lets grind that score!

This would've been the weekend to release the new "spongebob/swiss cheese" paint pattern. They've got the colors to pull it off - but cmon PGI - you'd make millions off this! Make it happen!
