Match score is not associated with Elo at all. The only factors that Elo takes into account are your current Elo, your opponent's Elo and whether or not you won.
Match score is used for sorting names on the victory screen. (And, I suspect, for determining the winners of this weekend's challenge).

Ha! Good point! I wonder if this event would have been held last a few weekends ago if they hadn't had the blunder they had with the Match Score prior to the latest patch (remember? when it looked like your match score was your damage + a few points...)

Can you link to a quote from PGI that confirms this - or are you just going on your own assumptions?

(Posts 3 and 4 are where the meat live)
These equations depend entirely on current Elo of the players/teams involved and the result of the game.
The match score that was introduced with phase 3 matchmaking is still something of a mystery to me - but I believe that it is safe to assume that it is extremely similar to the older versions of match score (some rough combination of the "countable" things you do - damage, kills, assists etc). These are things that almost certainly correlate with wins and losses, but do not plug into the Elo equations that PGI has provided us with.

Match score has nothing to do with Elo rating, or matchmaking phase 3 (it was implemented before MM3)
For now its used to rank people on the scoreboard at the end of a match.
In the future it will have something to do with your Combat Score which determines "global ranking"
How its calculated, who knows. I've heard some guesses that it might be damage done divided by 10 plus kills and assists weighted in there somehow.
Thanks Thontor,. I knew there was something like that out there.

Triple digit score says that you've just carried a bunch of scrubs, double digit score says that you are at least an average player (possibly better than average, depends on circumstances), single digit score says that you are either very new to the game or are an utterly hopeless window licker.
