Ok so, with the bonus to founders mechs this weekend, I decided to dust off my founders atlas and have a couple bung stomping sessions. However I noticed during the most recent game that something seems to be horribly amiss with the game's damage transfer.

In my most recent game, I had my Left Torso destroyed. This meant the loss of the side torso, and the Left arm. However, for some reason, the loss of the LT also took out my Gauss rifle. The RT (both front and rear) had nearly full armor (yellow) according to the paper doll at this time.

My atlas is configured as follows:
LA: Large laser
RA: Large laser
RT: Gauss Rifle, 2x Gauss ammo
CT: --
LT: 2x LRM 15, 2x LRM ammo, CASE
RL: 2x Gauss Ammo
LL: 2x LRM ammo

So, can someone explain to me how, despite my armor not being punctured (barely scratched even) on the entire right side of my mech, my Gauss was destroyed? My CT was also in excellent condition when this occurred (yellow).

I understand the destruction of the LT taking out everything on that side, but considering CASE is supposed to stop the damage transfer past the LT (which I think it did) - how is it that a component in the RT was destroyed as well!?

Are there through-armor crits in the game now ? I can't think of any other reason other than this, or a huge bug that caused my gauss to be destroyed. The mech's entire Right side was nearly pristine.

There's a few things that could potentially have caused this. There's a decent guide on how crits work in MWO here: http://mwowiki.org/w...-_A_Brief_Guide

But that said, there have been reports in the past of through-armor crits taking out a system (example) and it appears there's some ambiguity as to whether or not this is a bug or simply a normal event with an astronomically rare chance of happening.

I usually don't have gauss rifles on my mechs but I've killed a few where I hit them and a couple seconds later they die. I believe it's from their gauss exploding for 20 points of damage and internal components have 15 points of health, so if you had an XL engine it may take that 20 damage and blow up.

Not what the OP is describing. He had a Gauss Rifle explode on him without any apparent source of the crit, since his armor was still intact in the rifle's location.
