This thing has been a long time coming, years, ever since finding Brickcommander.com and being disappointed in Bus' version. It was hard enough to give the torso the right shape at this scale, I just had to give up on the cockpit canopy. I tried to represent the details from the resculpt mini, especially on the arms, back, and top, but the legs were a nightmare. Originally this had knee joins and could crouch, but the weight of the torso was too much for them, so now the knees are locked at 45 degrees and braced against the lower legs. Even now there's so much torque on the axles in the knees that they will soon be permanently deformed. Not that I ever intend to take this thing apart .

i bought these when i was about 12 lol

I was given a tub of K'nex one christmas by a well-meaning relative because, hey, it's all just construction toys, right? They were really neat, but they never appealed to me as much because of the inability to color-coordinate anything. The battlemechs came well after I'd given up on the toy, I didn't find out about them until years later.

i play minecraft now >.> at 23, ive seriously given the option of legos another thought lol, once my kids get older ill get them some and end up using them, and give mech building another shot lol

the knex are definitely inferior though, its all step by step and as you said, color coordination is a bit harder. now i wanna play with legos -.-

Excellent job! As a guy who has built a 10179 Set, I respect thee. It shows you've put time into it. Now, on that good note... Can we have a Lego Urbie? :-)))

Hmmm. I wonder if that might be a problem with digitigrade (dog, cat & bird like) and unguligrade (think horses and cattle) if we ever get around to making mechs in real life. The mass of the upper sections of the mech exerting enough torque due to gravity to greatly increase the wear and tear. Though to be honest I'm not sure if human like (plantigrade) would be much better though the mass is a bit more balanced over the joints when at rest.

I can't believe I missed this when it was posted. This model is simply astounding, by far one of the best Lego 'Mechs I've ever seen. I have no criticism at all, truly excellent work.
