I personally am a long time player of Mechwarrior and in general the battletech franchise. I enjoy this game thoroughly however I have noticed a lack of certain mech types.

We currently have 3 missle boat mechs (or rather mechs that are very capable at running several missles) In general without naming variants they are the Trebuchet, Catapult and the Stalker.

What I have not seen are mechs that focus on other weapon types as they seem to have a more generalized mix. Yes the Cataphract can be balistic heavy but then, one variant (excluding the Ilya) but we should have more. (I am eagerly awaiting the Jagermech!)

As well as a lack of balistic focused mechs we also do not have many energy focused ones. Again the Stalker falls into a category of being capable and yes there is a single variant of hunchback that also does it.

However where are the heavier mechs that do this? I love the Atlas and have as a child, but there should be other heavier mechs that compete with it and the Stalker for Assault capability. I recommend the Mauler and the Annihilator

Both of these are within this timeline and both would bring a new style to the assault business. Balistics also put a damper on the rampant strength of lights in the current meta. (I for one am not someone to say lights are over powered or that they need a nerf but rather I feel this is a solid way to help level the field by giving assaults a better option to combat them.)

Please let me know how you feel, and let's not let this devolve into something it's not. If you feel this game is broken or if you wish to start an argument please, take it somewhere else. Let us have constructive commentary to allow for a better progression forward!

-Cheers!

I wouldn't take bets on those 'Mechs. Exactly for the reason of ballistic slots in each side torso.

Annihilator is pretty much extinct in the IS at this point. Wolf's Dragoons currently has exclusive rights to all Annihilators being produced in the IS right up until the Blake Jihad.

I'd shy away from the thing just based on speed though. Atlas mechs get out maneuvered enough as it is, and they're 33% faster then the Annihilator. All that fire power is useless with out the speed to get it where you need it.

Mauler doesn't really have enough variants at this time, and as others have stated, the Annihilator is pretty much extinct only being found with the clans and Wolf's Dragoons.
