I posted this in one of the many ECM threads, but thought I would post it here, as I've given it quite a bit of thought and was trying to figure some realistic effects that wouldn't be so game changing.
So..what if...
1. ECM blocks target data..so you don't get a readout on target (weapons, damaged areas, etc)..while target is inside an ECM bubble.
2. ECM slows missle target lock by 50% while target is inside ECM bubble.
3. ECM gives mechs inside the bubble a "stealth" effect which lowers the range of them being detected by 25%.
These effects wouldn't be OP, but would add some tactical nuances to the game.

Another Ecm Suggestion Post (Sorry!)

I want to add another suggestion option. Quick and dirty, and gives BAP a purpose:
What if ECM did not have a counter mode?
Give that to BAP as a passive, short range (180 meter) ECM jam instead. That way if you had ECM and streaks, and run up against another ECM mech neither could use the SSRM, but if you ran up against a BAP platform, the ECM you have will be nullified and they can use their superior sensor suite to blast you to kingdom come.
Bam. The Light mech playing field is equalized, the BAP has a purpose, and all is well.

This is fantastic. Simple, great logic to it, and the mechanics are already in the game. Please PGI, give this a go!

I agree...would make BAP much more useful, and all mechs can equip BAP if they so choose.

Replace it with 'ECM doesn't affect target lock off any weapons.'
The tactical benefits of ECM are already huge, there is absolutely no need, that ECM should affect weapon fire in any way!
