Greetings, all. I recently (today, actually) purchased the Trebuchet 7K. I am enjoying it but I'm not doing too well with it. Up until now, all I've piloted are Catapults.

My current loadout is as is:

Endo-Steel
13 Single Heatsinks
Standard 250 Engine
One LB10-X AC (With two tons of ammo)
Two Medium Lasers
One SSRM2 (With one ton of ammo)

Are there any ways I can improve upon this build, or do I just need more practice piloting this thing?

Any replies are appreciated.

I've been playing around with this one a bunch and have yet to find a build that really shines. I always feel I am under utilizing some aspect of it.

Most recently I've been running it as a YLW look alike. AC20 in the LT, 2 ML in the RT, STD 250 with 10 DHS and as much armor as I can fit. You lose the flexibility of an AC20 in the arm but also gain a second shield arm for your right side. It's working okay but really if that's what I wanted to play I would probably be better off just pulling out my Wang. :D

Lbx shine when the enemy armor is after being striped off.
I'm not sure if its the best thing for this mech since your other weapons won't be stripping off armor quick enough.

I'm guessing it's something like...

-Strip armor with ERPPC
-If they get too close, unleash MG's.

I've been having a lot of fun with a UAC/5, 2xLL, and an XL300. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c0f8df37d6c1f82

I've also tried a gauss rifle, 2xML, and an SRM4 (I think). More firepower, but I like the all-range capability of the first one better.

Played with this build with some success:

It seems rather hit or miss and needs speed tweak, but having 2 UAC5s hammering away on such a small mech is rather entertaining.

I actually just run mine like a Star League update to the basic design. I cram Endo, Ferro Armor, DHS and a 250xl on it. Then I upgrade the weapons to an ER PPC, UAC/5 with 3 tons of ammo and 2 Steak missile packs. I seem to do my best Trebbie work with this, even moreso than my 3C, with it's sick speed. (I run it like a really fast and mean SP, with 4 medium pulse and 2 streak)

I know the armament doesn't sound overly impressive, but it seems to work. 4-500 damage per match, and a couple of kills is pretty decent from a medium support unit.

I am liking the following:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6467f6ca1157a70

UAC5 with 4 tons of ammo
2xSRM6 with 3 tons of ammo (more on this in a second)
2x ML
XL280 engine
Endo
11xDHS

The UAC5 is great. It has an optimal range of 600m and a maximum range of 1800m, making it useful on large maps. Used at long range, its an AC5 with faster cycle and more range, which is great. Used at close range, it can have violent spasms of damage output, tempered by some self control and spacing out full auto volleys.

The ML are ubiquituos for many reasons, they are light weight, good medium engagement range, good heat to damage ration, fast cycle speed, great weapons.

Now onto the topic of the SRM6s fired through 2 missile tubes. SRMs have 2 major problems, they do lots of damage over a wide area, and can miss easily. To alieviate the spread problems of the SRM you can invest in Artemis IV, which reduces spread (I find it makes a difference at the 150-200 meter range (my experience with SRMs is that they fire in a tight group, blossom into a wide spread at the 50-75m range, and then tighten at 150-200 (if you have artemis.)

Firing the SRM6 through 2 tubes gets around that. The hardpoint will only spit out 2 missiles at a time (well 4, as they allow missiles from multiple launchers to be fired at the same time). So when you load 2 SRM6 launchers into the 2 tube slot, you are basically going to be firing the equivalent of 3 pairs of chain linked srm2s. Now the big difference between SRM6s and SRM2s (besides damage) is that SRM6s will impact on different mech locations, whereas the srm2s will basically hit where you are aiming them. No shotgun effect.

So if you can learn to deal with the 2 second delay to get the entire volley out, you can have PINPOINT accuracey with your SRM6s. Rear Center torso from 250m away precision. Coupled with a UAC5, you can throw out SIGNIFICANT damage to a point.

But like I said, it takes some getting used to.

one really nice thing they did with the K is that they gave us a 2nd missile harpoint on the missile arm, this is good, because an SRM2 or an SSRM2 all by itself is pretty much a waste of tonnage, 2 SSRM2 are fairly useful though, and 2 SRM4 in that arm are also very useful, though they do fire in 2 volleys.

there are lots of good builds for the K, its a very flexible chassis

i usually run mine like this, 2x SSRM2, ER PPC, AC5
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7b67a331c3340fc
and another popular sniper build looks like this Guass + ER PPC

I run an all-around build- XL 255, LB 10X, PPC, 2x SRM4. Runs fairly cool and racks up some good damage.
