Whilst spectating a teammate in a commando (using streaks and med las), I observed that even though there was only one enemy left and he was shooting elsewhere (opposite direction in fact), he seemed to be taking damage. It primarily occured immediately after firing his own weapons.

This damage was significant enough to kill him in the end, without any fire from the enemy mech.

He was not hit by friendly fire at any point and was running at 88% heat at the most. Will test this further to see if I can replicate it.

NOTE: just remembered something, this was in city map and the mechs involved were fighting in the water. Could fired missiles be detonating immediately after leaving the launcher when they impact water?

I had this happen to me in the shallow water where it shouldn't be happening, shooting up and hitting the structure in the center of the river. 1 shot my right torso anyhow.

If missile launcher lubes are submerged in water than missiles will detonate inside the tubes (LRMS do not arm so 0 damage, but SRM's and Streak SRM's will do full direct + splash damage).

This is not a [BUG] as I previously thought but "working as intended" according to Dev replies on the matter due to implemented water collision effects.

Yes, but when missile launchers on the arms are shooting you in your own torso when not submerged you have an issue.

And in the case of the 2d, if the game was for some reason believing the ankle deep water was covering the missile tubes on your arm, you should be blowing your arm of, not your torso.

I blew myself up in a COM-3A on River City in a similar fashion. Only one enemy remained, an Atlas in the central river facing away from me while my teammates battered him. I had serious structure damage. As I fired a volley, I died, and was credited with killing myself (although it did not count as a teamkill in the post-game). The damage report cited Engine Destruction and said that the most recent damage was from a SRM-4. I was the only 'Mech left with a SRM-4, as the enemy Atlas did not have it and none of my teammates did either (premade group). At first I thought I had twisted my right arm (in deep orange structural damage) into the path of the SRMs after launch, and that the damage had transferred across to my right torso XL Engine. However, I was in the river, although the water visually only reached halfway up my legs.

Ok, now been able to test this some more. Driving COM. Water at the level of mechs knees. Firing SRM6 from CT caused dmg to self in front CT/RT/LT. Firing arm SRM4 blew the related arm off.

Please note, this is with ONLY LEGS in water.
