If reducing the heat of the ER Large Laser isn't an option to make it somewhat more attractive to choose occasionally, I have another idea. One of the things I think that makes the ER Large hard to use at really long ranges is keeping it on a single spot on that target for the full 1.0 second duration, so when compared to an ERPPC that puts its full damage out at once it seems to pale in comparison.

My suggestion is to decrease the laser duration to 0.75 seconds (same as large pulse laser). This would help improve its ability to put out more of that damage out when at long ranges, plus have a slight bonus in close range combat (similar to how the ERPPC has no minimum range).

Both of these things have been done.

LL and ERLL used to have the longest burn time, now they are the same as medium lasers.

The heat for ERLL was just reduced this patch as well.

Have you used them yet? They handle beautifully. Ive been replacing all my LL builds with ERLL. 3 ERLL and a Gauss is a blast to use.

Unfortunately they were only reduced by 5% heat, compared with what the PPCs and ERPPCs got its a drop in the bucket really. Besides my suggestion isn't as much about heat as it is making it a more effective sniper weapon to contrast its heat build up.

This is merely for cosmetic reasons, but I would like to see the ERLL have a more violet hue. The frequency would have to be different in order to boost the range.

ERLL should indeed have a shorter burn time. The precendent for higher heat of ERLL was for range purposes - but this is of less use in MWO very often - however, the maths of the TT game also meant that having longer range meant you were more accurate in general as you gained largr range brackets that effected your to hit roll ... ahem excuse me ...

YES. I know this is not the tabletop game, but the base mechanics and equation of weight, crit slots, tonnage, agame etc ALL come from the tabletop game and have been ported into MWO then adjusted. As such the emchanics of how weapons work are based off TT. I am not advocating blindly following TT in any way shape or form but you need tot ake into account those modifiers when porting the weapons across into a real time game ... ahem,

So, A shorter burn time simulates the additional accuracy that ERLL have in TT by allowing you to put more damage into a single location, and putting all of your damage into a mech before it get to cover etc. An abstraction of a to hit foll for sure but it would make the high heat of the ERLL much more worth it.

This! ROYGBIV (indigo isn't in the spectrum, Newton just had a ****** for the number 7). Honestly it should be as follows:

Small Pulse = Red
Small Laser = Orange
Medium Pulse = Yellow
Medium Laser = Green
Large Pulse = Blue
Large Laser = Indigo
ER Large Laser = Violet

Oh god, please no, think of all the Nyan Lunchbacks you'd get from changing laser colours in such a fashion.
