Hypothetical

You are designing a mech loadout for your unit for at least semi-serious business by specifications given to you by your commander.

Everything has gone according to plan until you hit one of the weapons in the loadout, which he said to put an AC/10 on the mech but he didn't specify which version. You have the tonnage and access to different version of the weapon so it is up to you to determine which one you are going to mount.

The differences in the amount of ammunition are due to tonnage and heat variants of the weapon.

For reference purposes.

You missed the best of both worlds LB/X-10 with slugs and cluster

Which is how every self respecting LB is supposed to be armed. :)

If I'm going straight up beating on other mechs? Ultra AC10, though the ammo count is a tad low for my liking. Otherwise, LB-X with solid slug.

But if I'm facing armour, or infantry, or heavy population of light mechs? LB-10 with cluster.

And lacking that ability is the primary reason the LB-X isn't widely loved in MWO.

Off-topic: Why do the LB AC's place the "X" after the salvo size designation? (I.e. LB 10-X). I think it sounds weird--you don't say "LR 20-M" or "SR 6-M" do you?.

X is suppose to be eXtended or something like that. No one know actually. No one knows what LB is also.

I agree, LB-10X with a mix of slug and cluster ammo.

Yes, if we could load up 3 tons of Slug and a ton of Cluster and swap between them it would become a loved gun.

Then wouldn't it be LBX-10 (or something like that) instead of LB 10-X?

No because it is Lublin Ballistics then the "rating" of the AC, that being '10' then the Experimental indicator. That would be my guess.

Yeah, LB10X with 2 tons of slugs and a ton of clusters is the best choice here.

Voted LB-10X with 45 slugs, but what I really wanted was 30 slug rounds and 15 cluster.

While I want to see the mixed ammo for the LB10X, having it would make the AC10 obsolete, and they already stated that they want all equipment to be viable (hence the 1.4 DHS). Most people would not use the cluster rounds at all and would only use the slugs which would give them an AC10 that weighs 1 ton less and has a better range than the standard AC10.

About the only compromise I can think of would be for the LB10X to come with a mixed ammo loadout, 7 cluster/7slug per ton of ammo. (maybe make it 8/7 if you must have 15 shots/ton).
