Congratulations, while it is understandable you would be dissapointed with second after leading for 40 hours this is still a huge achievement given the nature of the scoring system (which hopefully will never appear again). In the future anyone who was here last weekend will know what it took to win that banner. The people who played hundreds of matches must be pretty damn good by now.

Hopefully after reading this and other posts from the top competitors PGI will have the sense not to use a scoring system that encourages insane playing hours again.

Yeah, it's still quite the honor for getting silver. I'm very happy with my MWO abilities now, I learned quite a lot.

Mmmm, killed you a few times on Saturday.

Unfortunately due to RL commitments I couldn't take anywhere near a serious stab at this tournament.

I'd really like future tournaments to be less...sleep depriving. Something like your best X out of Y matches might work better, say 25 out of 100. I would love to actually compete in these things, but no way in hell I can play Friday ->end of Sunday nonstop. I might actually have a shot, if they do something like this -- looks like my points per game was pretty decent, and that was while running non optimal hero mechs(1.49 points per game - 82 points total, 39 wins, 16 losses)

Dropped in a muromets or my flame as I knew i wasn't competitive for the tournament, might as well get more c bills.

Muromets was 2x ppc 1x gauss (better in a 3d, lol poptarts but wanted to stick to hero mechs) or 3x UAC5, and dragon was either 4xLL @90 something KPH or 2x LL 2xML 1x SRM6 @ 105ish KPH. Played the Flame way more, dragons are underrated. The only one that is really bad is the 5N. They do take some getting used to as other than the Flame, you're probably going to be mixing lasers, ballistics, and missiles.

I was playing in a match when I was 'Sleep-Playing' much like 'Sleep-Walking.' I was in a state where I was thinking that a big blue Atlas was a blind date of another big black Atlas, and I was the friend of both that would introduce them. Mind you, I actually saw long flowing brown hair on this blue Atlas, and the black Atlas had liberty spikes, I'm not even kidding by saying this. I was horrified when the black atlas killed the blue one after a charge, because I thought of myself as a bad friend to both of them, and that I should have known that the big black charging liberty spiked Atlas wouldn't have liked the calm, proper, reserved, and apparently partially attractive blue one. In an angry fit, I proceeded to core out the black Atlas, and felt good after avenging my fallen blue lady.

Crazy kids these days. Getting hallucinations from playing video games.

Back in my day we did it the old fashioned way. ;)

Anyway, congratz. You earned it.

This was my first tournament in any game, and after leading the heavy boards for 40 hours straight, I was finally overtaken by the great Lord Azurescens. Congratulations to you if you see this post, you've earned it!

I will admit, the sadness of being second does hurt. Putting so much effort into something and not winning the top prize is disappointing, and knowing I was literally seeing things due to a lack of sleep was a scary experience.

Surprisingly, there were a few more 'insane stasis' games where I actually seemed to play better, but near the end of the competition, I fell 10 points behind the great Lord Azurescens.

Nevertheless, I'm happy with Silver. To be so high on any leader board for my first tournament attempt feels very good.

I want to thank all of the players I was with, everyone was so polite and calm, it was surprising for this sort of competitive scene.

And to PGI, thank you for the wonderful event, and the wonderful game.

Your Heavy Runner-Up:

Very good show of sportsmanship here. (I felt worse for 4th place; so close to getting any form of recognition). That aside, I salute you for your showmanship.

Scary to hear about your delusions. I've only suffered from sleep deprivation once in my life; not something I'd care to go through again.

Well done mate! Hard fought battle for the top 3, and whilst I was backing Tzeentch for the win, as he is a guild mate of mine, props given where props are due. Far more staying power than I could ever have that's for sure. I hope the next tourny that PGI put on is not as... insanely taxing as this one.

Thanks you two, it means a lot. It was definitely a lot of hard work to stay up for so long, whilst attempting to keep 1st (Giving it my all) but again, 2nd place is pretty grand as well.

I wasn't part of the medium leaderboard but I was watching you and azurescens battling out the whole weekend. one thing I know for a fact is that there is nobody on any leaderboard with anything less than total respect for the determination their peers showed to play this game so continuously for so long. Good job man. 2nd place white banner looks the best anyway!

Much love, Broceratops, thank you! And congratulations on first overall! That is quite the feat!

And yes, I suppose you're right. All of my mechs have some white on them too, some with more white than any color, so I'll definitely match. =D

Was a rough one grats on 2nd. I hope you enjoyed your sleep, i think out of everyone playing you were the only person to not stop for the whole duration of the tourny. You definetly derserve that 2nd place slot.

I'd also like to point out that if i didn't have the cooperation of my team, when organizing a rush or some sort of flank i probably wouldn't have the ammount of wins i did.

That's true. Azurescens was in the very first game I played on Friday although at the time obviously I didn't know that he'd end up where he did. In that first game he was trying to lead the team, telling people where to go, things like that. He kept that up all weekend long, every game I dropped with him, which is damn impressive because at the end I could barely avoid running into buildings with my own mech let alone directing anything.

Yeah, at the start of the tourny, I tried directing people as well to pull in wins, but the sleep deprivation got to me near the end. Again though, I've learned a lot since the start of this event, so it was worth it for that reason alone really.

Congratulations again, Lord. And the sleep was definitely fantastic, haha.

I'm sure during the next tournament, I'll be doing better than ever, I just hope it isn't such a long tournament next time, hehe. I think a day long event would be great, just to ensure the sanity of the players. =P

Yes a day long event is how they need to do it.( im sure there are equally skilled heavies that just didn't compete because of the time needed to put into it.)

Maybe experiment with different ways of accumulating and tracking the score.

Yeah, definitely. After all, scores should be kept when the player is at their best. When a person loses coherence, it's terribly difficult to do anything right.

But Lord Azurescens, you should definitely write a perspective forum post, I'd love to read it!

I've found all of the perspective posts very interesting so far, it's nice to know others felt my pain but joy at the same time. =)

Are you crazy ? ;) Go to sleep!

I was hunting you for 22 hours on the first day. I never saw you! I thought you were a myth!
4 minutes before the tourney ended a white dragon pops into my field of view on caustic...guess who it was.
I was like WTF where did he come from ?

Congrats. Good job mate. Nicely done.
