Many weapons are 'iconic' for certain chassis. It would make sense to incentivise use of those weapons on the chassis.
For instance:
Awesome - PPCs mounted on this 'Mech produce 5% less heat
Stalker - LRMs mounted on this 'Mech produce 5% less heat or reload 5% faster
Catapult K2 - MGs mounted on this 'Mech fire 25% faster
Further suggestions on this topic would be appreciated.

This is honestly what I expected when they said they were adding special quirks to each mech. Insert I've never been so wrong meme.

I think it is still planned to do something similar, it just got delayed when other more important issues (like fixing ecm, more maps, more mechs, bugs on maps, community warfare, and dont forget, impending clan invasion).
But honestly, I can't see it being that hard to do.

I don't think they'll do this as it tends to go against an earlier statement that a weapon is a weapon, it does't matter if it is mounted a 20 tonner or a 100 tonner, it will function the same for both.

I have to say I like the idea but I think it would detract too much from the standardized nature of weapons.

You ignore, though, the fact that mechs are NOT standardized but built around a specific weapons platform in mind. Remember, Ominmechs do not exist yet and changing a mech requires reengineering of the machine.

It would be nice for some mechs but leave others out in the cold.
for example the stalker is NOT an LRM mech in its stoch load out. the only one that could be is the 3H, that maybe i could see getting the suggested bonus.
many of the catapults, however, are supposed to be LRM centric mechs. and right now its usually not, its caries SRM's and tries to brawl. maybe a little incentive to stick to its designed porous would help keep mechs more like their stock designs.

You could also do this on a variant by variant basis. That may help make each 'Mech variant more unique as well.
