I notice I've been taking some really painful hits recently, where I've lost centre or side torso to a single hit. I've never had this before - going from undamaged to losing a torso in one blast. I'm running hunchies - usually almost max armour (54 front CT, 40 front LT/RT.)

It's generally been times where I haven't seen what hit me, just heard the hit, and suddenly I've lost half my mech (or been destroyed!) This suggests it's energy or ballistics, but I'm still not sure what kind of build can core a hunchie in one hit.

I'm wondering if the devs have cleaned up the hit detection code and this is how it's meant to be, or if something's bugged.

Anyone else?

I had a fresh Atlas just dropped dead from one peek over the ridge line. Could have been a lucky head shot, but I didn't see any weapon fire. What I did see was like 3 Catapults staring back at me. Maybe a lucky shot. Maybe not. Not really sure what happened.

The answer is : "Both"

State Rewind is live for laser weapons, so it is much easier to hit fast movers or lagshielded mechs, which allows them to be damaged the way they are supposed to be.

And SRMs/SSRMs/LRMs are having issues with splash damage causing the damage of these weapons to be increased or decreased in unintended ways. The small mechs (the Commando is the poster child for this) take MUCH more damage from an SRM6 than they should in certain situations, other mechs take more or less than they should due to the way the splash damage from millses interact with the hit boxes of the mechs.

Splash damage is going to be removed untill they get it working right. Many people, including myself, think that they should just take out splash damage and keep it out, but it is possible that some form of (correctly working) splash damage is beneficial to the game, we will just have to wait and see on that.

Edit: tweaked the wording a bit to better express my point.
