When I play in this game, I like not knowing if I'm in the bottom 10% or the top 10%. Perhaps I'm a MWO God who just doesn't realize it because I fight other god-level players, or perhaps I'm a MWO noobtard without any skill what-so-ever. The point is, without a hard number for us to compare each other by, it's all just speculation, and that's a good thing.

I was thrilled during the brief time (around the transition to Open Beta I think) when the Kill/Death and Win/Loss stats were removed. I thought that it was finally time for this game to be about team play and NOT chasing that 30% Jenner half way around Caustic to get the kill.

We all know what levels and stats can do to people's heads. If some players discover that they are in the top 10%, I fear that some of them will become the most toxic kind of player. You know the type. The one that NO ONE wants to game with as a friend or foe. The only reason to ever show us our Elo is for bragging rights. I would gladly sacrifice that right in favor of keeping this game's player community all on a relatively equal footing.

TL:DR = Don't reveal our Elo scores. Ever. Doing so will just give some players an ego and cause them to be jerks to others. Yes, I realize this is already a problem with some people, but revealing Elo scores will only exacerbate the situation.

Revealing elo might also reveal the matchmaking and then people would start asking why they got paired with a bunch of 1300 players when they are 2200....

agreed, people are already using their post count or founder member stats to try and prove why they're better then every one else. Showing Elo rating would just give them one more thing to justify their delusions.

It could also lead to players finding ways to exploit the system to get the easiest possible matches.

Best to keep it hidden.

Idk, I feel as if we should be at least aware of what our ELO is to some degree. Maybe not give us a direct number, but at least be aware of what the two teams average ELO is. Last I remember ELO in a team works as if one team's ELO is greater than the other, they do not gain a significant ELO score should they win, likewise if the lesser team loses.

Let us be aware of which team is at least in favor to win so we can ballpark our ELO, without an exact value.

I'd like to see a Starcraft-style league system. It doesn't show your actual ELO metrics, but it does show where you fit into the grand scheme. It would be a useful tool for competitive play.

I was going to actually bring up something like that (for instance, showing which team is in favor during the loading screen) but I forgot my flame shields today.

It might be nice to give people a "tier" or perhaps tell them to their percentile to the nearest 1%, or 5% even.

Bad idea, if you can see your elo, you can game the system.

I would like to know my Elo rating.

It is going to be bad but it is also a game statistic that I'd like to see improving when I play well. I'd also like to see the Elo calculation after a match which means the average Elo of my team and the enemy (if I remember the process correctly).

I do not care much about individual players Elo ratings. I expect there will be public leader boards at some time that give enough information. I would not be opposed to a public Elo ladder either, this should have an opt out though for players who do not like to be compared.

So generally I am all for knowing my own statistics and other players statistics if they wish to disclose them.

Meh, ELO should just be a matchmaking variable. If you want meainingful stats, check your K/D or divide your wins by losses...I know that when stats are there, I check them, even when I claim to not care about them.

I'm generally a fan of maximum information but I tend to agree that making this available will lead to a lot of elitism and general jackassery as it has in so many competitive FPSes.

I want Elo released. And all data. Data until the cows come home. Available for downloading and parsing until our eyes go crossed.

I'd like to see a mod much like XVM for WoT as it would give you an idea of what to expect and who to respect on mine and the other team by displaying there stats with what would be the 'Tab' button in this game.

Some people hate the idea of there stats been on show but i just used it to show me who on my team i could feel safe pairing up with/following and on the plus side if your stats are bad your less likely to be targeted first out of your team.

I totally agree with you. In league of legends once ranking came out douche bags all over would talk down to you even in the forum because you were a casual player instead of a super ultra diamond covered platinum player. It was really disappointing that someone not even ranked couldn't add their thoughts in without being berated.

Now on the other hand if they release a Solaris VII as a place to be a competitive gladiator in a battlemech then i'm totally for supporting a ranking "ONLY FOR SOLARIS VII" while the rest of the galaxy is normal warfare.

This is a quality idea, I likes it.

I wish it would show Elo in game. That way bad players opinions wont influence the groups tactics and people will be more willing to listen to what the good players have to say in regards to movement, focus targets, and captures.

The side effect might be some players being alienated and their messages stifled, but I'd prefer that then being forced to have bad players thinking they are good and ruining games because of it.

I'd rather endure elitism over stupidity.

that was probably the one thing League of Legends did wrong.

they've fixed it now though with the league system. ELO was never meant to be a rating, it should be in the background as something to run the matchmaker.
