Airplane glue is a powerful adhesive substance that should only be used in a well-ventilated environment.

Ventilation! No matter how much skill you have, or how fat you are or how hairy your neck is or how long you've been living in your parents' basement, you need to use ventilation. Ventilation, not wishful thinking!

So if you are sitting in your parents' basement with a plastic bag full of airplane glue under your nose, and you start seeing weird spots and feeling dizzy don't go posting on the internet, open a window!

I would imagine that a bald man would dissipate heat faster than a hairy man.

man the more I check the forums the more I see these crazy threads that people are making... Does no one know how to make an argument and/or put their point across in text anymore?

i think the mods have given up on sending joke and/or incoherent whatever rants off general forums unless it's 110% obvious.

i'm becoming more and more detached from general forum

so keep sending these rambles of madness in! we soooooooo love to waste our time!

OP was worth a good laugh considering I'm always crying about the low skill ceiling.

It actually sounds REALLY close to some of my arguments.

So for it to be 'pilot skill tailwind' How many cans of beans does it require?

minimum of 2, unless you add flour tortillas, bacon, potatoes and cheese of course.

Next on tree: 'pilot skill ignite tailwind'

But knowing how to clean the dust out of heatsinks is a skill, one that requires very little xp, just like the mech skill. Many people never clean out the inside of their computers, leading to degraded performance because of excess heat in the cpu and graphics card. Someone with, oh I don't know, let's say 750 xp would know enough to open up the case and put some compressed air through every once in a while. How much mud and various types of grime end up coating a one ton heatsink? Do you think that a pilot would learn to clean them out after say 1-2 engagements?

fun fact:
if your stuck in the middle of nowhere and are running low on petrol, you can pee into the gas tank and dilute the petrol just enough to stretch out your fuel usage to run longer. (there is a reason why the pump hose is hung the same way and roughly the same width as an average wang.)

please note this works much better in hotter desert like conditions. due to the warmer ambient conditions, your pee and petrol dilution will be more combustible then in lower temperature climates.

I agree with the OP. Since we effectively get the dissipation rate of true DHS through pilot skills, it would be more logical and straight-forward to drop or scale back those heat-related skills and make DHS an actual 2x the effectiveness of singles, if PGI insists on maintaining the current cooling rate.

But to solve the main problem of extremely high burst damage and badly cooled stock mechs, they need to implement the popular suggestion of drastically increasing the dissipation rate and lowering the shutdown threshold.

Not to mention those pesky crana.

I swear, every time I come from Forest Colony I have one or two of these stuck to my rear torso.

Apparently common sense and posting ability isn't a skill either.

2.0 as a figure for heatsinks was broken. We know this, it is fact...cuz Garth (I think) told us so. After he single handedly killed an atlas with back shots and zero heat worries. Ok, but hey, the elite level of Cool Run and a 250 engine gives us the equivalent of 2.0 every time. The game didn't fall apart. Hmmmmm...

The problem isn't their stance, the problem is the absolute bullshart workaround they left in. Engine sinks still dissipate 2.0 each. So, a 250 engine and elite skills make them all just about 2.0. If 2.0 was overpowered, then why do we still have it? If it was so deadly, why is it simply hidden under a grind mechanic and engine size?

I agree with the poster. Give Cool Run some other effect, and admit that 2.0 really isn't game breaking. People are still just going to alpha until they blow up anyway, because they can shoot three times as often as the heat system was originally designed to counter.

actually reminds me of when I made a real argument and then at the end of it all said "...also collecting mechs is not a skill." It was a joke of course.

A piece of wisdom buried in a thread where you'd least expect it.
