Two games in a row I've found myself on a team against dramatically more Assault Mechs (and Atlases in particular) than my team has. I'm Pugging.

I can't screencap the final matchup statistics because SSes are disabled right now, but the first game my team was 6 Heavies, a Raven and an Awesome against 3 Atlases, a Trebuchet, a Hunchback, a Catapult and two Ravens. That one I could almost buy, since we had a lot of heavies.

The second one, far more noticable, was about the same on my side, an Awesome, 6 various Heavies and a Raven.

...against a Raven, a Trebuchet, a Stalker and 5 Atlases. Four were DC's.

There's really no forgiving that, that's just way more armor to chew through than we could be reasonably expected to do.

Anyone else seeing this sort of thing happen?

Yes. Though we've won most of the time. Its ELO. It works like this:

In a perfect world ELO matches skill for skill and weight for weight. The longer you match takes to find the more different those two things will be.

I've had matches where we had one assault and the other team had four. I was running my Trenchbucket so needless to say that's a lot of armor to grind through. We simply out maneuvered them. I would almost complain if I was in the almost all Atlas team because you are at a severe maneuver disadvantage.

Take it as a compliment from ELO. ELO could not find people of your groups skill level so it tried to balance the match through tonnage.

I'd be flattered if I weren't pugging and so basically flying blind.

The system also gets much less "picky" the longer the search window is searching- It is a compromise between "even matches" and "finding a match at all".

They will be tuning the matchmaker. It seems everyone would be happier if it was "more picky" about weight class even during a long search.
