Just some ideas for possible modes changes...

Assault: Concept is to have one base that one teams defends and the other attacks. Only goal is to capture the base. by destroying all enemie mechs doesnt count for this mode, just base capture.

Search and Destroy: No base, just destroying all enemie mechs. The team with the most kills when times runs out is the victor, unless one to one then can be draw.

Resource: Mechs have to go out and hunt for mineral deposits that are radomly generated on the map. Once found they stake a claim, call in drop for mining equipment and either guard it or move on to another deposit. Win by collecting a certain amount of minerals or destroying opposing team.

Siege: Is like assault mode except defending team if they win continue on map... they get a 25% repair bonus and fully loaded with ammo, before the next team drops in. Attacking team if they win become the defending team and recieve the same bonus.

Recon: A mode for lights and mediums. Goal is to tag, narc and or lock on to enemies mechs so that lrms or artillery can attack them. This would be set up as a 4 man event against 4 or 8 other mechs. The lrms and artillery could be turrets. This concept needs more work... just an idea.

Thats what I have so fare...

Some of those seem a little too... Call-of-duty-ish for my tastes. Though an assault-and-hold style match where offense and defense get switched up would be interesting.

I'd be for an escort/intercept mode. Equal teams (perhaps) are dropped. Defenders gain C-bills for each vehicle safely escorted out of the area while attackers can simply end the round by destroying the convoy (even if the escorts are still alive) or capturing the convoy (by staying within a capture field for a certain period of time).

Convoy vehicles still on the field can be captured by either team - but the team contracted for defense loses if all are destroyed (regardless of who owns the vehicle). Obviously, the defense loses if all convoy vehicles are captured and escorted away by the enemy (the ultimate insult to their skills).

Another interesting mode would be a version of the old Mech 4 missions that involved destroying a dropship or two. Teams would battle to defend and destroy dropships on the field (though exactly why is not certain... may not even need to be explained... as none of the current modes have explanation). Or - perhaps the team who destroys the most dropships before they all take off wins (obviously, you would have friendly dropships that you should be defending).

Honestly - I think that mode could replace the current conquest mode. You have to both defend your dropships and attack the enemy dropships (and mechs) - destroying all of the opposing team only ends the mission if you have killed more dropships than their team. Otherwise - the destroyed team can still win if the other team has failed to prioritize dropship destruction.

Recon, siege and resource sound...really odd. I don't think they'd work that well in the context of MWO.

However, one-base assault(or attack and defend type game-mode) is probably inevitable. Many people want it. It's been suggested now and again since I first came to these forums months ago.

A game-mode called "Seek and Destroy" sounds more like...you'd be hunting some objectives on the map to destroy, rather than other players. Basically, Team Deathmatch will be coming someday in the form of Solaris...something something. I don't know the specifics, but it's some big, battletech-themed arena brawlfest. People fight it out, people gamble; it's supposed to be great fun with grand battle-royales and like...team deathmatch, essentially.

I'd be down for an actual search and destroy game-mode, though. Maybe there's a sequence of structures you have to destroy...like the first one is nav point alpha which will almost assuredly be destroyed as both teams have to traverse the map to get to it. Then when it's gone, nav point beta is marked on both teams' maps and they scramble to attack and/or defend it, or maybe alpha was void of defenders because they setup an ambush along the way to beta or something. I don't know, lots of possibilities...most of which have already been discussed here on the forums.

Perhaps dropship respawns could be incorporated into that. The more game-modes we have utilizing our mech ready list, the better I'd say.
