Just wondering how people would feel about PGI releasing the upgraded YLW on Sept. 21. The day on which Hanse Davion gifted the upgraded mech to Kai-Allard Liao. It would be pretty cool, and give PGI an excuse to sell something.

For those who already own the mech it could be sold as a one time, MC only upgrade package, adding the additional weapons, heat sinks, laser hardpoints, and TSM (if thats implemented yet). Thoughts?

Sure, why not. I'd settle for just a titanium claw, though.

I love my YLW, but I'd love to be able to use the claw. That was really the whole point of having just an AC20 in one arm, anyhow.

I thought I would get the package for free. Stupid me.

True, but some people might not want it. I guess an alternate idea would be to sell the upgrade as a c-bill purchase, that way you are still spending real cash to get the YLW, but then you don't have to shell out more to get the upgrade.

I see issues with this....

1) The YLW appears to generally be regarded as one of if not the best Cent chassis. Non cosmetic upgrades will unleash a sea of P2W qq, which may or may not be valid, depending on what upgrades are offered.

2) people already paid good money for the YLW, and would rightly feel slighted if not offered the upgrade for free (if part of new chassis) or as a c-bill purchasable upgrade. monetizing this will inevitably trigger a sea of (valid) "Why do I have to pay real money if I already paid real money?" qq

The only thing I see as feasible without major backlash is an optional Claw upgrade package for Cbills

I would love to see melee but it won't be here till the Solaris VII push and who knows how far out that will be. Otherwise the claw would be purely cosmetic for now and pointless.

Now it would be nice if they gave a second color scheme though.

The YLW is only the best Cent right now because SRMs are trash. When SRMs are good again it will go back to being a bit sub-par.

Okay I got this figured out in my opinion
A: Cosmetic claw for original yen lo wang is a MUST please please please (they already said the eould be selling "hat" type items.)
B: Upgraded Yen lo wang with two extra energy hardpoints on the arm (PLEASE!) Which is a new mc purchasable item and offer those who hage an original have the option of trading theirs in for the upgraded version.

This is to me the most reasonable way to do this, and I personally feel that having to buy the chassis if upgraded would be mean. While not a good business related idea, it would show mass appriciation to those who support3d the very first hero mech.
In short, devs please make an upgraded yen low wang and be nice to us. Sell us a cosmetic claw for mc and you will make great profit i assure you, regardless of the lack of melee combat.

In general the current YLW is a bit of a disappointment. It is the worst hero mech I have. If they upgrade it and dont give the upgrade to all drivers as a free option (or a second mech) I will be pissed. What do you get for early support? A mediocre mech.

YLW hate makes me so sad. It's so much fun to play with an XL300. It's probably my favorite Hero (but I do love some Death Knell and Misery also).

But, Medium is my preferred weight class so maybe it's just a good fit for my piloting style. I don't really brag on myself much but I'm a damn good shot with that AC20 on the YLW.

Well a Medium mech with an AC20 on arm (more aiming ability) as well as good speed, maxed armor, and an expendable left arm... Really you can murder a lot of mechs so long as you are patient with that AC20.

Frankly I laugh at 3SRM6 Cents, I generally blow open their launchers before they can really do anything. It's depressing when you don't make proper balanced use of what you got, otherwise if you spot them boating you just hit them in that one spot and they're now harmless. Granted the YLW is useless without its arm, learning to preserve that arm well most likely puts you above a lot of players.

Of course a good 3SRM6 cent pilot will do their very best to make you go through 2 arms and the RT before you can get their launchers.

Maybe we can all agree that people are better at some mechs than other people? For example, I have unlocked all the basic efficiencies on 3 Trebs. And I still suck at Trebs. Now, I'm not sure why but I just can't figure them out. Of my 5 worst KD mechs, three of them are Trebs.

But some people are amazing with Trebs, so I try not to say: Trebs suck. Truth is: I suck with Trebs.

I like this idea. The mech is fun to play but inferior to most chassis. Could use an upgrade to add more variety to gameplay.

I don't have the hero mech, but I do have a Yen-Lo-Wang build for my 9D Centurion. I don't see the need for the YLW.

Mine has a Gauss Rifle with 3 tons of ammo, 2 medium lasers, and then I threw on an SRM-6 because I don't like relying on my right arm that people love to target and shoot off.

To be fair the real YLW was a Gauss Rifle, 3 medium pulse lasers and triple strength moymers (TMS boost your speed when you run hot).

Yeah that's not a YLW though. YLW is missing an arm actuator so it can fit an AC20. No other Cent can do that.

And no, the real YLW was not based on a Gauss. At least not initially. For the first 25 years of its existence it was just the AC20 and 2MLs (the claw wasn't even on it initially). Later Justin's son Kai did outfit it with a gauss much later.

Honestly I was originally planning on purchaing YLW when I thought it was going to be Kai's version with the Gauss in the right arm and the 2 medium lasers mounted in the left arm. That would have been sweet.

RA - 1 Ballastic
LA - 2 Energy
CT - 1 Energy
LT - 1 Missile

Would still purchase a hero version in this config.
