That prolly was the nicest feature about the weekend event.. It meant alot of people werent roaming around the pugs in teams stomping the crap outta everyone in cheex squads.. Soo many people were out solo and in alot of non cheez builds it made things nice for a while..

Remember Elo matching does the best it can to match up but as the search time takes longer it has to broaden its search more so that you do not have to wait longer to find a match. So occasionaly your probably going to get rolled. It also does not seem to account for the diff between 4 man and solo. So i suppose you will come up against the 4 man often. I can tell you for sure that sync dropping has definatley been crushed but not destroyed completley by the new MM.
If you run a 4 man alot and win than your Elo is going to climb. If you should then start PUGing than your going to go up against some pretty tough competition for a bit and without communication.

Odd. i could tell when I faced a premade over the weekend. Which was still fairly often.

I'm surprised you felt like you saw less cheese over the weekend. It also makes me wonder... How much did you drop over the weekend (or in general since last week's patch)? Have you recently changed weight classes (driving a new mech or something)? I can't think of a place in the ELO ladder where it would make sense that you saw solo drops over the weekend and didn't have problems with them but are now, in the same portion of the ladder, seeing lots more groups who are also significantly better than the rest of the folks in the area and so I am trying to figure out if something has changed where you are on the ladder all of a sudden.

The only issue I see with the ELO system right now is when people "farm cbills & xp" they tend to deploy strategies that make contribution rate lower than it should be. For example I usually run mechs with large engine brawlers when farming cbills and don't sit back and snipe for 8 min, I simply want to do as much dmg in the shortest time period and get in lots of games. A lot of other players might be leveling up a chassis and do terrible on the raven 2x, but then when they play the 3L destroy ppl.
What you are experiencing is when a bunch of premade players get together after farming/soloplay they pull out their best mechs/builds/playstyles and absolutely destroy. The only solution to this would be to multiply effective ELO while in a premade, but this might be wonky as some people are much better working together than others.

getting stomped out of the higher Elo tiers by premades, all in complimentary builds using TEAM work?
working as intended.

Seriously. I saw more cataphract 3Ds, and Catapult A1s then I thought humanly possible. The Ilya was also insanely popular as well. That said, I actually enjoyed playing against so many high-end builds because it let me practice outside the 8-man premades.

Yes alot of people were out in hero mechs.. I saw less 3L's more death knells.. Wangs were a dime a dozen, as was the muromets but there were more of those i'd say.. After all y just grind a regular mech on the tourney when u can grind ur hero mech or founders and get a bonus while working on a score. Dont get me wrong there was cheese out there but not as much as usual. I mean i was seeing lots of jenners (usually the founders ones)
I posted over 200 battles finishing 57th overall and no class had a losing record. I did pick up a second treb, and got a muromets to finnaly have a heavy.. But with ELO weight class doesnt matter. and trust me when i say i got them raised pretty quick.. Cause I was runnin into guys on the top 50's left and right alot.. had one match where i found my treb or muromet in with 6 guys that were top 50, most of them in the meduim class i think it was... I'm not like u i dont need cheese to do welll.
And yes there were solo drops everywhere.. Alot of people were solo sync dropping. by the number of times i saw tourney guys matching up.. Not everything is 4 mans and 8 man s running around.. Especially when theres a solo tourney on.. Come down outta the clouds because MWO doesnt revolve around premades. There can indeed be a solo game.. and I'd say i've got some..

And I agree with you, as long as the team people also get the proper tools to have their team drops done ( and please dont even mention the current 8v8 random BS)

Well, I gotta say, I appreciate your personal attacks there. Forgive me for having any sympathy for you. You've done away with that. All I can say now is have fun whining about players working with teams in a team game.

ELO should probably track players both in and out of pre-mades. The last time I dropped pre-made we were 2.0 win ratio. Solo I am more like 0.7.
