Got my eye on some assualt mechs for sale and was wondering how they are?

The stalker I think I will skip it seems to be the worse build fewest had points plus not really into the stalker

The one atlas on sale the as7 k I already have a As7 d atlas and would help towards unlocking elite I run with dual uac5 for ballistics but this one is probably go with gauss and run both ams and definently take out the XL for a standard, how does this mech perform?

Also the awesome 9M looks like it could be used for a few different builds, Probably would want to run (er)ppc with srms i would want to be fast is it viable to run a XL?

The 3H was my very first stalker. My first build, while practical at the time, was bested by one sporting two ER PPCs and 5 SRM-6s. The "practical" build I'm referring to used twin Large Pulse Lasers and a plethora of heatsinks. It once got me this victory against a team with 5 assaults, 2 heavies and 1 medium. Also at the time, LPLs had almost as much heat as the current ER PPC, and identical heat to that time's PPC. Now, you could easily get away with 4 LPL and still have the same heat efficiency. Although I think you should try sporting missiles on the side.

Its strength is that with the exception of 2 missile hardpoints, all of its weapon mounts are in the arms. Also, due to its limitation of 4 hardpoints, you are more likely to mount larger, heavier weapons. It is an ideal mount for ranged fire weapons such as PPCs, LLs, their ER variants, as well as brawling energy weapons such as LPL. If you were to turn it into a ranged missile boat, an assortment of medium pulse lasers will keep it well defended against any single threat. Even in the state of missiles, I consider this to be a good purchase. Though it is affordable with .

The Atlas 7K has a limited ballistic mount. You'd probably go gauss or AC-20. It also has only one missile mount. Unlike the Atlas D (which is a brawler), the Atlas DDC which is a command unit, or the Atlas RS which is an anti-medium rig, the Atlas K is a combat support model rather than your typical brawler. Its twin AMS would be of great benefit to a nearby Atlas DDC should his ECM go offline, as well as to fellow missile boats. This is a good purchase due to the considerable time necessary to acquire the . I personally made this one as I already own the others. However, I do not believe you will truly grow to like it until missiles once again become a serious threat. Until then you can pull off some tricks I've learned with my Atlas D. I'm sure you can learn them on your own as well.

The Awesome 9M has a number of very useful builds. The main purpose of an Awesome is ranged support, however the 9M is one of the few that do well outside of that role. The 8R is another one that also can handle itself beyond the role of support. However you still want to avoid the front lines. Zhizhu's Awesome pilots tend to favor chasing Lights and Mediums at impressive speeds of 86 kph or more. Little is more terrifying than being chased by an Awesome. However, don't get in over your head. You're a huge target, just slightly wider than the Atlas. Your head, although the cockpit hitbox has been significantly reduced, is still fairly large. Of the currently available assaults, the Awesome requires the most skill. Those who fail at the skill required recoil with harsh words such as "This sucks." "It's too easy to kill." These are people who also can't throw their arm out to swat down AC-20 rounds, or have not had the chance to bulldoze through an enemy Atlas during Closed Beta (man those were freakin' fun times!) While great to have now, this will be so much better to have when knockdowns come in. Garth's timeline is "6 months." Let's hold him to it.

(Also it is viable to run an XL. But keep yourself well defended. There needs to be a lot going on upstairs to prosper with the 9M or any Awesome for that matter.)

Good luck out there.

Thanks for the input, I've only bought the 9M do far but I'm liking it a lot. I ran with 3 normal Ppc because the ER were way to hot, I used hard points in Ct for streaks as well as the arm so I have 3x 2 streak launchers. Combined the streak and lining up PPC alphas against lights have really been successful I realty noticed how scared they get when I my 6 streak missles it them. Also been thinking about removing .5 tons of armor for a small laser in the head slot. I'm on the fence about the atlas still, I think it could be nice support with the dual ams and use dual ppcs with gauss.

That could work. You'd definitely fit the role I described, too, as you'd be rather reliant on another Atlas or an escort of sorts for close range defense. So far it feels a lot like the Atlas D, except it should have gotten another hardpoint or two to make up for the ones it lost. The torso energy hardpoints just feel like a neutered D. My own I'll start running with the May fixes on missiles. Saves me a crapload of cbills to save up. Pity it wasn't the RS on sale.

Usually don't see the 9M sporting ppcs. But yes I imagine that would be terrifying.

The Atlas-K would be better served if there were more missile options like the Thunderbolt...

Otherwise... it's not so hot. Maybe a "quirk" would benefit the Atlas-K. It can't hurt at this point.

Since you already bought one to keep you occupied, consider paints, saving up for the next hero, or perhaps getting some mechbays for now? I try to use to buy standard mechs whenever possible. I only use the as the occasional shortcut.
