Well, ladies and gentlemen... I tried the above 3F build and did not like it as much as my previous configuration. I put out less damage, but far more accurately and with a more manageable (for me) heat profile in the following build:

I shall call him 'Fearful Symmetry'....

Stalker 3F
300 Standard
22 DHS
2x ERPPC in torsos for best long-range convergence
2x Large Lasers in the arms

PPC's are primary weapons as soon as I can see the blue blobs at 1500 meters. Lasers take over as targets get within 500 meters, with the PPC's firing only as heat scale permits. Large Lasers as cooldown weapons... gotta love that.

Firepower is only 38, which is heresy for an assault chassis, but it works like a champ if you can actually hit moving targets. I've been told I have a steady hand on the mouse (from spectating mates), so maybe this just fits my style better.

Thanks for trying ha! I'm actually surprised at the build you use. It seems so minimalist on the weapons. Don't you get run over at short ranges? Maybe I should try it out.

And luls at the name :)

It actually reminds me a little of this build before I used an xl engine. It had two ERPPC and two medium laser instead of three ppc.

I've gone back to my 6 PPC stalker build, because too much is never enough.

I'd rather run this: 17DHS 280std ES
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...57acfb6e215ef13

These kind of balanced builds will be way better on the stalker. Yeah you lose a couple heatsinks but you can live twice as long cause they have to get through the side torsos now.

You have a lot of firepower on one side of the mech, It plays more like a PPC mech at range, SRM mech at close, and balanced build once you lose a torso. :)

I do not tend to get run over at close range, actually. By the time my approaching brawler target gets within SRM range, he has a big smoking hole in the center of his mech. One good poke in the gyro and it's all over.

Yes, this mech has very few weapons. They are all heavy hitters, however, with great reach. This 3F will usually deal the first damage in a match, and it will fire continuously thereafter.

You want to LOL over my name...? you should see my Stalkers. They are all sporting big toothy Kingdok grins. Now I just need to figure out how to strap that scepter to the side of the chassis....

Also, if I recall correctly, the engine internal DHS cool at 2 and the critical non-engine DHS only cool at 1.4, so you don't get that much more effectiveness from the extra 2 DHS. Stacking DHS is better on specialized builds like PPC, SRM or whatever.

Thats actually a pretty clever build. I like to fall on the side of being more offensive with my builds though, so losing that heat and speed is kinda meh. Its probably smarter though lol.

I've seen a LRM20x2/SSRMx2-3/PPCx3/med laserx1-2/TAG build that is interesting too.
Basically it allows you to be heat efficient at every range and absolutely lethal in the 180-270m range.

That's what I use (link in my sig), but with 4 ML instead of 1-2 ML & 3 PPC.

And yes, 180-270m is high damage :)

His heat is actually slightly better than yours because he has one extra heat sink. But still, gotta go fast.

So after seeing one of my mate i tried 4 LRM5 and 4 ERPPC.... then i switched to the 5 M
5x LRM 5
4x ERPPC
1x tag

Much heat, so much damage!

but again... it never beat the feeling of 6 PPC... with any other build, when i overheat and shutdown, it's like an unfinished job... with hexa i can rest in peace, my target is down :)

Huh? his has 17 and mine has 19, with an additional engine dhs.

I actually tried that build, but couldn't get over the reduced speed. It made me so much less effective. Just felt sooo bloated. Its the reason I usually hate assaults- the biggest I go is heavy usually.

IMO too much heat = crap damage. If you cant sustain the damage, whats the point of having a billion weapons? It doesn't make sense to me. I usually laugh when I see stalkers with 15 weapons.

The reason why 6xPPCs can be very effective is the fact that 2 Alphas can core an mech pretty easy.
If you play the 6ppc stalker well, you are a very effective teammate. Second alpha is a granted overheat if you dont wait a few seconds, but if you shine with good aiming, most common mechs are toast after you overheated.
So using your Team an providing pinpoint damage can be good.

But I dont like it because for me there is no fun in 2-shoting a mech.

Ahh I see. I guess I assumed it would insta-overheat on the first shot or something.

I don't see how it can really be played 'well' though lol... all that really matters is not missing haha.

So I did it again.

I got 7 kills 1 assist and 1100 damage with this mech. I dont even knowwww. Simply the best. None of the other assaults I've used even compare.

Seems like this has been getting mixed reviews though, which is kinda surprising. I think maybe it just fits my play style really well, or I've just figured out how to use it better. Anyone who hasn't, I strongly encourage doing so haha.

Also, I changed the tag to 2xSL to help with the short range dps. Adds a little bump to the srm damage.
