I will admit, it has forced me to play more cautiously.
Only complaint is that when I group with clanmates, we get some really wonky matches, in both weight and skill disparity.

ELO has trouble finding perfect matches all the time at the highest level. There is not always a large amount of crazy good players on all the time so you end up getting disparate matches on frequent occasion.
8-mans right now are kind of crazy. You get the same 3 or 4 groups over and over sometimes, even if you beat them 8-0 every single time. Just not enough people doing it during certain hours.

This. So much derp today.
Edit: On some days I seriously miss the tournament enviroment when dropping solo.

Really wonky matches sounds about right.
The only noticeable difference that I have been encountering frequently is the weight difference between mechs.
