Okay...

I may be the pot calling the kettle black here but have from time to time struggled with reading some of the posting on this forum. Some of which, I believe get lost in translation and has once or twice incited small riots... ;)

Spelling - When you've become wholly reliant upon MS Office spell checking and have trouble spelling your name... couple nice resources:
  • The Chrome browser has a built-in spell-checker. Not perfect as it whiffs on some words, but good in a pinch.
  • iSPell - An MS Explore add-in that helps you to correct spelling and typographical errors. link: http://www.gnu.org/s...ell/ispell.html
All caps and run-on sentences does not help in any way, shape or form... Your "wall of text" hurts aged eyes and causes vomiting in small children. Just stop...

I personally, when writing on-line tend to write phonetically... I.e. I split paragraphs, insert "..." to pause for meaning and inflection and also sometime go overboard with explanation and detail. I guess it's better than the alternative eh?

English is my second language - Please take the time to proof your posts. (Spelling and grammar) I can only imagine the difficulties that this entails... I do not have the constitution to attempt to carry on a discussion in any language I do not have mastery of... kudos to you for the effort!. That said, I've watch too many of these posts get flamed for being taken out of context or written is such a was that the forum topic and point is lost in translation...

Thanks for your attention... This has been your friendly grammar police PSA. Please proceed with your beating of dead horses, reiteration of long discussed scenarios and speculations. :P

Now..now..now... Not a Nazi.

Just trying to help everyone play nice in constructive and legible ;) ways.

Oh and because of the funny respondents above I'm adding:
  • Harassing a well-meaning contributor is definitely frowned upon.
  • L33t speak will be unceremoniously ignored.

Anyone know any good sleep medications. Something one could take, fall asleep, then wake up in 2 months time, feeling fully refreshed and ready to play MWO!!!!!!!!!!!

Or a Topic that does not collapse in on itself after 2 pages...????? (if such a topic even exists anymore?)

I was just gonna say "Iz kan haz Chizeburgerz", but I kinda agree so I wanted to develop just a little .

First point : The spell-checker is just impossible. I don't know about you, but my first langage is french, and so is my spell-checker. Pretty much my entire post, however long, is underlined with the infamous red doodles. And I don't see myself changing it back everytime i flood post in the forum.

But I fully agree, some of us out there forget that paragraphs do exist, so are komas and dots. I can't really start throwing stones here, my english is far from perfect, but I do make the effort of re-reading everything to at least try and correct some stuff.

So, trolls gonna trolls, but I think OP is right ;)

Can't dispute the boredom point...

That said, you think helping current and future forum contributors is pointless?

I take offense at this at face value. There was a time when people helped each other with no expectation of appreciation. This forum is full of people too eager to blast another with disparaging remarks, beat them down for not falling in line with elitist beliefs and admonishing them for vocalizing decent with various aspects of canon.... but offering a constructive post regarding reaping the highest benefit from a contributors post is pointless?

Sorry buddy, but I find your post be far more pointless as it is defamatory and adds nothing of value. ;)

Well, if someone wanted to improve their spelling and posting integrity I'm sure they wouldn't solicit random forum troll for "higher learning."

Yep, actually it's quite pointless to make a thread about this. Do you really think that people will heed your advice (no matter how well intentioned)? This is the internet, you'd have a better time training a pig how to fly then to tell anonymous users on the 'net that they should be interacting a certain way.

Trust me on this, you're only banging your head against a wall fruitlessly.

Nothing ventured nothing gained...

I have no delusional aspirations of creating a Ethiopian Utopian society where everyone uses perfect grammar... I was just presenting an opportunity for those who gave a rats-arse to re-assess they posting habits and possibly utilize widely available tools to assist with this endeavor.

Edit: Because I am human and have become crippled by spell-checking....
