It can take up a ballistic or its own slot and require smoke ammo and does 0 damage. It would be awesome to pop smoke in the middle of open spaces for more cover/escape. It wont block anything but line of sight. Long cool down so its not spammed. Just an idea I think would add a lot to game play if done right.

it's canon:

also we should add in an ability to switch between loaded ammunition types during the course of combat.

I've recommended launching smoke grenades from an ECM equipped mech when ever it gets targeted by a tag laser. The TAG duration should be long enough for the defensive system to think "Oh, missiles coming" instead of just being illuminated as the Tag mech traverses the battlefield looking for a target to settle on.

Well a lbx 10 is suppose to be able to switch between spread shot gun and slug.
You guys might want to consider adding flamer the ability to make smoke by shooting the ground.
They can even use a version of the jump jet smoke just more exagerated.
If you want a good idea what I mean grab a jump jet and spam it real fast..... you'd have cloud of smoke.

that was half the reason for flamers in TT reducing forest/city hexes and making smoke. I miss the firestarter...

A week ago i would have said we don't need it, but with the new Alpine map, this could be very usefull. You have very big open spaces, with almost no cover. A smoke screen could shake thing up, and introduce a lot of new strategies.
